Tonight: The Ultimate Dance Party @ The Central Wharf
If you're looking to do something fun after work today, why not grab your dancing shoes and head to the Inner Harbor (7-11pm)? Now that the Thursday at the Square music series is over, Buffalo Place is busy promoting additional music events to keep the crowds at the waterfront and downtown. It looks like it's going to be a beautiful evening at Canalside as 104.1 and the ECHDC promote this dance party featuring music from the 60s and 70s. From Erich Weyant at the ECHDC:

It all takes place on the Central Wharf. It is sponsored by ECHDC/Buffalo Place and WHTT Classic Hits 104.1. No live music, but there will be a DJ on stage spinning tunes from the 60's & 70's... The goal is a dance party on the Wharf - perhaps not as huge at the "World's Largest Disco" - but on that idea. Admission is free. Buffalo Place will be selling food and drinks, so if anyone has any leftover tickets from Rocks the Harbor or Thursday shows, they can make use of them tonight. Hopefully it will be a fun way to cap off what has been an amazing summer.

1. The EHDC needs to name the area with one or two words max. Currently we have 5+: Erie Canal Harbor Central Wharf. Seriously? And to what does "Canalside", which appears on signage, refer? Quite a mouthful and definitely not catchy. Hire some branding expertise and settle on a name. I realize Central Wharf is a specific location within the whole site.
2. This event was great. Well attended, well produced, except literally the last note when they cut the music early. Brought out all sorts of folks. Danced our butts off as the breezes wafted in. Perfect summer night.
3. Get more buildings to feature energy-efficient decorative lighting. It would further highlight the city's architecture.
