Shakti Lounge: Intension Ensemble translates Sanskrit into Music

Shakti Lounge: Intension Ensemble translates Sanskrit into Music
The live music in the city continues to impress, especially now that so many unsuspecting music venues are helping to contribute to the audible cause. Whether the musicians are jamming at The Vault, Canvas @ 1206 (coming soon), The Gameroom, PeopleArt Coffee House, 136 Lofts, The 9th Ward, Xtreme Wheels or Filigrees... sometimes the greatest live acts can be seen at the most unsuspecting places. Take Shakti Yoga for example. Who would't want to experience an intimate show seated on comfy pillows inside a former bank building? Normally yoga is the name of the game at Shakti, but when the place isn't filled with people meditating and stretching, the sound of music fills the great hall. Just remember to take your shoes off at the front door... from Shakti:

This is the first in a series of live music performances. Check out Facebook for additional music line-up announcements.

Pretty cool-I love that live music is starting to appear all throughout Buffalo. A little recommendation from someone who was just in New Orleans, one of the live music capital of the world: bring in to the streets as well-this will both make Buffalo a more interesting place to be/live/visit, but it will also help promote your music venue.

Also, I really encourage collaboration among venues with proximity to one another-share schedules, do joint programming (a la First Fridays). In other words, it would be great to know that there are going's on, to which I can walk, at Sweetness 7, the new book store, etc. the same night that I am heading over to hear music at Shakti Lounge. This is where Bflo establishments need to stop acting in silos and collaborate.

Mohawk Place lists all their events in an RSS feed which you can subscribe to with google calendar, ical, etc. It's extremely useful. I wish more venues would jump on the RSS bandwagon.
