Great cause, curing cancer, but why not more *prevention*: "less of it in the first place" . . . less to *cure*? I suggest that Race participants earmark registration fee and donations for “research and advocacy about environmental links to WNY cancer.” (And not just for safe targets like tanning beds and tobacco.) It is time to use RPCI’s power and reputation & focus on true *prevention*, not just lucrative early detection and treatment. Pay back the hospitality and millions of dollars WNY has given RPCI for decades. (All those "Rides for Roswell", recent "10 million donors", tens & hundreds of thousands per cancer patient, and huge NY State taxpayer subsidies.) The Breast Cancer Network of WNY has gone on record against Hydrofracking and will give a seminar on breast Cancer and the Environment on November 5. What about RPCI? We need its vast resources (and donors) to make any real change in WNY cancer rates. PS: I am caregiver for a current Roswell patient who had no risk factors except having been brought up in WNY.
