UB South: Music Series on The Green

As university life kicks into high gear, the community is invited onto UB's South Campus to enjoy three live music performances out on The Green. The shows take place on three consecutive Wednesdays in September, starting this week with Critt's Juke Joint. The setting for these shows allows for visitors to bring blankets, lawn chairs and and picnics - just remember that the concert series is family-friendly and no alcohol is allowed. Light refreshments will be available.

Field schedule: Sept. 7 on Hayes Hall lawn, Sept. 14 on Rotary Field along Bailey Avenue and Sept. 21 on Hayes Hall lawn. Show times are 6-8pm.

The Sept. 7 program will feature Critt's Juke Joint, lead by Eric Crittenden. The group will perform America roots music, blues, jazz, funk and reggae.

The Sept. 14 event will open with Billy Drease Williams, a man of many talents who shares his positive experiences to encourage and inspire students through a hip-hop performances he calls "Finding A.M.Y." He will be followed by N 2 Deep, a local crossover group that will perform a variety of oldies, as well as new tunes.

The series will conclude on Sept. 21 with the Genkin Philharmonic, a 10-piece electro-acoustic chamber ensemble that will perform contemporary music in the rock, jazz, improvised and classical genres. The show's intermission will feature The Buffalo Chips, UB's all-male a capella group. The program is one of UB's Inauguration Week events marking the formal investiture of Satish K. Tripathi as UB's 15th president.
