Home Brewing Bliss In Buffalo

Home Brewing Bliss In Buffalo
Elmwood's Village Beer Merchant has become a staple for beer lovers all over the city. Since its opening we have seen a few secondary short-lived concepts introduced such as sales of culinary gadgets and the opening of a deli. In recent weeks, the business has been experimenting with stocking different cheeses - something that I hope it sticks with in hopes that it eventually becomes an integral part of the business. More that anything else however, customers have been coming in asking for home brewing supplies.

In the next few weeks, the Village Beer Merchant will be ordering and stocking home brewing supplies, including specialty kits, different kinds of grain, equipment by the piece, ingredient kits and complete kits. At first, the selections will be dictated by what is most popular, but as business grows so will the specialty selections. On top of home brewing supplies, there are plans to host home brewing demonstrations and seminars. I'd say that this part of the operation has been a long time coming and will be welcome news for the Buffalo beer brewing community. It's just the perfect fit for the growler-filling micro beer community. By the way, I'm really digging the new growler koozies that are in stock. And for you non-beer drinkers out there, be sure to fill up a growler of Flying Bison lemonade - it's delicious!

Good news for homebrewers in the city. Of course, the premier brew supply store in WNY is still Niagara Tradition up on Sheridan and Military in Tonawanda. I owe them a pitch since they gave me a free hop rhizome this spring. Slainte!

Niagara Tradition is def the Place to go for homebrewers....both from the suburbs and city...the family that owns is is never less than 100% helpful, no matter how busy...but to see the homebrew industry grow in a city/region with such a rich brewing tradition is always a good thing!

Awesome! Of course I love NTHB but I'd buy from VBM too! Long live beer!

While I have only been homebrewing for a year, NTHB has been great with helping me with any need I have and for answering all my stupid questions without laughing. Maybe I'll check out VBM to see what they have or use them in a pitch by HTHB has my heart. Then again, I'm still a little grumpy when I tried to order 4 cases of a seasonal beer from them and they never got it for me despite weekly calls
