Clarence Clemons Dies: Last Ever E Street Band Concert in Buffalo (VIDEO)

Clarence Clemons Dies: Last Ever E Street Band Concert in Buffalo (VIDEO)
Clarence Clemons, legendary saxophonist for the E Street Band, died today from complications resulting from a stroke. It's a sad day for music fans everywhere.

With the passing of the Big Man, it turns out the last ever show for Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band was at HSBC Arena in Buffalo, NY. Many E Street watchers anticipated the Buffalo show might be the last because of Clemons's fading health, and, as a result, many famous Bruce fans flew in special for the show. It was, as always, an epic multi-hour rock show.

Without further comment, here is video of Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band performing Thunder Road at HSBC Arena.

While that show was not E Street at its very best it was still unforgetable as every one of thier concerts are. Another piece of this legendary American institution called the E Street Band leaves us. Bruce is at his best when his heart is at its heaviest, expect at somepoint soon a poignent and passionate reflection of friendship, love and loss.

Whether your tie to Thunder Road is personal (seeing it performed at Shea's, or the Aud or HSBC), or the linking of the song to many of the ceremonies associated with Buffalo born Tim Russert's death, it's a song who's message seems to change as you age, and now something different that the 'big man' has passed.

I'd imagine a significant number of people played the song as they left their rust-belt birth place, looking for greater opportunity elsewhere. Funny how '...the screen door slams....' once held the promise of all things possible, now it reminds me of so much that's been lost.

Tenth Ave. Freeze out has the line "...When the change was made uptown...And the Big Man joined the band", the opening line to that song is 'teardrops on the city', how true for today.
