Now that we are finally getting a break from the rain, it is time to enjoy the weather! Whether it is having dinner or a drink with friends on one of the many patios along Hertel Avenue it is important to make sure our streets are looking their best for the upcoming season. Keeping such a heavily used streets looking their best takes time and energy from a variety of people, businesses and organizations. To that end, the North Park Community Association
in conjunction with and the Hertel-North Buffalo Business Association
(HNBBA) will be sponsoring a spring cleanup of Hertel Avenue this Saturday, May 28th. This is the second year of the event and we are all hoping to make it another success. The goal of the cleanup is to blitz the sidewalks of Hertel Avenue between Delaware and Parkside Avenues. Please see the facebook event
for additional information or updates if they are needed.
If you would like to help in this cleanup, please meet at 10 AM in the parking lot behind St. Margaret's RC Church
; which has been kind enough to offer us the use of their parking lot to stage the event. The church is located at (between Saranac and North Park Avenues). We expect the cleanup should only take about 2 hours and we will reconvene at St. Margaret's Church around noon.
If you have gloves, a broom, shovels, and dustpans please bring them to help in the cleaning process. If you do not, please come anyhow! Trash bags have been provided by the HNBBA and the City of Buffalo. Better yet, after you have worked up an appetite, the HNBBA will provide pizza for volunteers! Everyone is welcome to help in making sure the street is looking good for another year so if you have a couple hours to spare, stop on by.
