Joe's Service Center - $.25 air & $.50 off drinks

In a surprise turn in the Bicycle Benefits saga we present you pedaling Buffalonians not one, but TWO businesses whose specialize in catering to motorists! Today and tomorrow we are featuring two progressive gas-station/service center/convenience store proprietors who believe that bicycles make this city a better place.

Today we feature Joe's Service Center at 1602 Elmwood (Corner of Amherst) and owner of the iconic "CARtwork" masterpiece called "Automobius." Proprietor Mark Kubiniec wants to support bicycles because bicycles are a big part of his life. Two of his sons work at local bicycle shops and have been GO Buffalo's Cyclist of the Month, the whole family rides and when the time comes around, they all participate in the Scajaquada bike path clean-up event.

Mark's shop represents an area of the city not yet populated with Bicycle Benefits members and offers a valuable discount. Ride in with your bicycle benefits membership sticker and get $.25 air (with a compressor ready for your high pressure tubes) and $.50 off ANY drink in the store.

I'm glad they are supporting this Bike Benefits series, but that two headed minivan is so trashy looking on that corner.

Scajaquada Clean-up is twice a year in April and September. Pencil in Sept. 10 or 17th for this fall, and watch for announcement through Riverkeeper and at www.JoesService.com

And Mark-P, alas, all art is subjective. Moving art is rare, and public art is not often anywhere to be found in Buffalo.

They charge for air ? Is that a joke ? Whatever happened to self-service hose where the compressed air itself was free ? I know some chain minimarts & gas stations have the little coin-operated air dispenser but never thought I'd expect to see it from a family owned operation. Three cheers for supporting all the bike-related stuff but what's the world coming to ?

The only place I know of to get free air is at Tops gas stations. Almost everywhere else, air is 75 cents.
