Solé Joins The Neighborhood Collective.
The Neighborhood Collective has just announced that Solé, a restaurant located on Main Street in Williamsville, will be opening in the former Juniper space on Elmwood. Solé is best known for serving up quality Latin-American fare - its tagline is "Sun inspired cocktails and cuisine." Featuring culinary options ranging from empanadas and chimichurri burgers for lunch, to tapas and street fare selections for dinner (fried pickles to paella), Solé hopes to up the ante when it comes to offering "subtle and seductive flavors of the South American continent" in the city.

Solé joins Annie Adams Jewelry, Lori Joyce Photography, Second Chic (now selling men's vintage clothing) and Ginny and the Angels (holistic skin care - info). Located directly across the street from The Co-op, featuring one of the more dynamic restaurant settings in the region, Solé hopes to capture an entirely new clientele while bringing devote fans from Williamsville into the city. Besides the flavorful food, Solé is also known for its South of the Border drink menu, serving up tequila flights, sangria and of course margaritas.

This is great, their chorizo meatballs are phenomenal. Sole is one of those great suburban restaurants that would be a lot more popular if it were in the City.

Now, the ladies that owned the busines previously -- have they paid all their old employees? Because according to some friends who used to work there -- money is owed.

They have the absolute best Guacamole there. They make it table side and it is wonderful! Sole will fit in well in the Elmwood area and I am sure they will do very well!

The table-side 'guac' and the ceviche are both fantastic, looking fwd to this location opening. Any idea when they hope to open?

as long as they leave that embarassing troll Janet Snyder out of their promotions and out of the EV, I'm all about it.

Sole is one of the better restaurants in the area. It is one of the few places you can take someone from out of town for a memorable dining experience. They have done a great job of differentiating themselves with the tableside guacamole and their wine and food selections.

@Mike Duff - "One of the few places you can take someone from out of town for a memorable dining experience" Oh my god are you kidding me???? I don't know how anyone could possibly think this. Buffalo, for its size, has an unbelievable number of high quality local restaurants. It's usually a bigger problem to decide WHICH restaurant to take an out-of-towner to.

Off the top of my head: Rue Franklin, Scarlet, Mothers, Olivers, Snooty Fox, Bacchus, Left Bank, Tempo, Pearl Street, Shango, 31 Club, Kuni's, Blue Monk, Sample.... etc. etc. etc.

Those restaurants have great food, but the service and atmosphere are pretty standard. Sole has differentiated itself in that regard. Don't be so defensive all the time.

The service and atmosphere at ALL of those restaurants is just "standard", and Sole is the only restaurant that exceeds standard service and atmosphere in Buffalo? Riiiiiiight.

And what on earth are you talking about, "Don't be so defensive all the time."?

Elmwood is a better fit...can't wait!

Is this second location, or are they relocating? I'm glad to see this space filled. Now I wonder what will go where the Wine Thief and Mode are/were.

Good score for Elmwood!

Sole does well in Williamsville and I am sure they will do the same on Elmwood. The city vs. suburb sentiment on BRO is ridiculous. To say "it is a better fit" for Elmwood or that "it would be alot more popular in the city" is ridiculous since they are already doing well and are a good fit in Willamsville. They should do well in BOTH places. This isn't a competition between Buffalo and Williamsville. There is no need to make it one.

SH> "Sole does well in Williamsville and I am sure they will do the same on Elmwood. "

Usually owners don't move their businesses unless they have a good reason. If they owners of Sole didn't think they were going to do better on Elmwood than their current location why would they move there? By the sound of the article above, it seems they are looking to expand beyond their current customer base.

we should be happy that a restaurant that is doing well in the suburbs wants to move into the city, it shows that they believe our area can support both location. To make this a city vs suburbs debate is pointless. Any local business, reglardless of exact location in western new york, should be celebrated. Also, as much as people may dislike Janet, her promoting an area is never a bad thing either. How awful a major radio station personality is telling people to go to a restaurant.

I remember when it was the other way around, successful restaurants in the city expanded to the suburbs. My how times have changed for Buffalo.

IDK the place is weak in my experience. Granted i have only been once but i found it bland, the service was not very good and overall it was just OK. They did however help catch the bikepath rapist so that's good.

So will this be a second location or are they moving, the article was not very clear on that. It also has no time table as to when this location might open.

Their lease was up in Williamsville - they felt that the concept was too good to go dark and that it was time to be back in the city (the owner has had a previous venture on Elmwood). Neighborhood Collective will be the only location.
