Sabres New Locker Room Plaque (Video)

Sabres New Locker Room Plaque (Video)
It hasn't even been a month yet and Terry Pegula has dramatically changed the culture of the Sabres organization. On his first night as owner, Pegula welcomed Rene Robert back to the Sabres family after a falling out with the previous ownership group.

The team has generated points in 7 out of 8 games since Pegula entered and Golisano exited. The Sabres acquired Brad Boyes at the deadline - a former 40 goal scorer with another year left on his contract. And the Sabres employees are talking about what a pleasure it's been to work for the new ownership group.

Oh, and Pegula has started to renovate the locker room and he's put his wife Kim in charge of that operation. The first visual of the new locker room has surfaced and while it's simple but powerful. The message on the new locker room plaque comes from Pegula's press conference: "From this point forward, the Buffalo Sabres' reason for existence will be to win the Stanley Cup."  Very cool.

We're expecting more locker room renovations over time and, based on some Pegula family tweets, it appears Vancouver's new locker room is the envy of the league and may well serve as a model for a new Sabres makeover.  For all you behind-the-scenes junkies, here's a video tour of the Canucks locker room.

One of the things about Drury and the last ownership was how Drury brought a picture of the Stanley Cup to the locker room. Doesn't seem much but that says a lot about Golisano and Drury.

I'll get by if we don't win a Cup but the loser 'break even' attitude is gone. I hope some of this rubs off on the City itself and starts giving us a little more pride.

Third paragraph: Pegula hired Golisano to renovate the locker room?!? WTF?

I also heard that he's been consulting with Russ Salvatore in regards to bringing a little more flash and pizazz back to their renovations...not sure if that's true or not but that's what i've heard from a few reliable sources

Oh great, I hope they're not going for the gawdy look of his monstrosities on Transit.

On the VAN video, not a bad way to live.

For a time, the third paragraph read, "Oh, and Golisano has started to renovate..." I see they've corrected it.

I heard the same thing about Russ Salvatore! I think Eddie Kilgore reported it first. If this is true, the Sabres score big-time under Pegula (Again!). Russel's got impeccable taste. It's so sad that it goes to waste in this dreary old town. --sigh--

Love it! Just a note I believe it's 7 out of 10 points with the loss to Pittsburgh.

The author said 7 out of 8 games, so yes, points in all but the loss to Pittsburgh.

What exactly is the state of the Sabres' locker room considering this has been a topic brought up from day one? Mold? Asbestos? Day-old bagels? Something along the lines of the Indians' locker room in Major League?

Because of the salary cap, teams at the top provide players with extra amenities. Supposedly this helps attract free agents.

I'm aware that some teams have onsite chef's, etc.

Anybody else notice Rob Ray on the road trip? Hard to believe that the previous group wouldn't pay to have him go on the road.

I would like to see Dave Andreychuk and Dominic Hasek brought back into the "Sabres Family".

Maybe Russ Salvatore can lore them back with large chunks of beef.

True story: I've seen Russ Salvatore naked. You want "large chunks of beef?" You got large chunks of beef!

But what does she know about designing locker rooms?

Wahh? no weight room? But the chain link fence area does add a certain charm to the whole decor.
