Indigo Art Gallery is pleased to announce its newest exhibition, A Circle of Influence, featuring recent work by Nancy Belfer, Linda Collignon, Barbara Murak, Gerald Mead, Ruth Butler, Ginny Lohr, Mary Treig, Georgia Trimper, Bruce Adams, and Leslie Zemsky. Nancy Belfer is a Professor Emeritus of Design at SUNY Buffalo State College, and the nine additional artists included in the exhibition are a sampling of the many artists Belfer has inspired during her years of teaching. The relationship between student and teacher is an inspiring and lasting one--perhaps never more obvious than in the creative arts field, where creativity is not taught by teachers, but rather, cultivated; students are encouraged to explore and grow as artists. As Indigo Art Gallery says in a statement: "A teacher's purpose is not to create students in his or her own image, but rather to develop students who can create in their own image." Belfer, then, has fulfilled her purpose; the impressive collection includes works from a variety of mediums, including paintings fibers, mixed media, and collage.
A Circle of Influence runs through March 27th. For the duration of this particular exhibition, the gallery is open from 12PM-5PM Tuesday through Friday, and 12PM-PM Saturday. Indigo Art Gallery is located at 74 Allen Street in Buffalo, and more information on the exhibition and gallery can be found by calling 716.984.9572.
