This Sunday, Shea's Performing Arts Center will be hosting a free screening of "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe" as part of the Perry's Ice Cream Free Family Film Series. The doors will open at 1 p.m. and the movie will begin at 2 p.m.
The Chronicles of Narnia tells the story of the four Pevensie children, who discover a magical wardrobe while playing hide and seek one day, and are then transported to the land of Narnia. There, the children find many strange creatures and an evil White Witch who rules the land. It becomes the children's destiny to join the mighty lion, Aslan, to help defeat the evil White Witch and free Narnia.
Free tickets to the movie screening are available at the Shea's Ticket Office or at Wegmans' customer service desks at all Erie/Niagara county store locations. The tickets are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The Shea's box office is located at 650 Main Street and is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The final screening in the Free Family Film Series will be "The Sound of Music," which will be shown on April 17, 2011. Shea's is hosting this free series in order to offer visitors the same experience that early patrons of the theater had in 1926, when Shea's first opened as a movie house.
