By Sandy Starks:
Dr. Roswell Park was a pioneering surgeon and the man many thought could have saved the life of President McKinley when he was shot in Buffalo during the Pan American Exposition. Dr. Park's most important and enduring legacy was his vision for a comprehensive, government-supported approach to the study and treatment of cancer: Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
But did you know Dr. Park was also an accomplished musical composer?
Join us this Sunday, February 13 at 2:00 p.m. in the historic chapel at Forest Lawn as Western New York Heritage Executive Editor Doug DeCroix explores Dr. Park's many talents and his legacy of life and hope, as part of Forest Lawn's Sunday In The Cemetery concert and lecture series.
Local organist and music educator Bob Hull will play some of Dr. Park's compositions on Forest Lawn's award-winning Wurlitzer pipe organ.
Seating is limited and reservations are suggested, as this program is almost sold out. Tickets are $15 and may be purchased by calling the Forest Lawn office at 716-885-1600.
