Who ever said beer and science wouldn't make a great combination?
The 3rd annual Beerology event will be taking place on April 9 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Buffalo Museum of Science. The event is a fundraiser for educational programming at the BMS and the Tifft Nature Preserve. This event has sold out every year, and tickets are going like hotcakes, so all you beer-lovers better hustle!
The event will feature home-brewing demonstrations, presentations by local beer experts, and plenty of beer sampling possibilities. So far, there are 18 beer vendors registered to be offering visitors a taste of their finest. Here's the current list of what's going to be on tap:
• Brewery Ommegang
• Brooklyn Brewery
• Consumer's Beverages
• Dos Equis Lager
• Dundee
• Ellicotville Brewing Company
• Flying Bison
• Great Lakes Brewing Company
• Heineken Dark
• Lake Placid
• Long Trail Brewing
• Magic Hat
• Mr. Goodbar
• Newcastle
• Pearl Street Grill & Brewery

Our good friends at Community Beer Works will be sponsoring the beer talks. The tentative schedule for speakers and topics is as follows:
Stephen Powell - Social History of Drinking
Peter Jablonski- History of Buffalo Brewing
Ben Briggs- Science of Brewing
Willard Brooks- The Science of Malting
Ethan Cox- Food & Beer Pairing for beginners
Admission to the event will be $40 and will start you off with 10 drink tickets. Each ticket is good for one 3-ounce beer tasting. If 10 tickets simply won't suffice, you can purchase additional drink tickets starting at 7 p.m. In addition to your drink samples, the admission price will also include a commemorative beer glass, appetizers from some local restaurants, live entertainment and access to the museum's permanent exhibits and galleries.
Tickets can be purchased online at www.sciencebuff.org or at the museum's admission desk. The desk hours are Sunday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Museum members with a valid I.D. number will get a $5 discount off the price of admission.
