Skivvies Snowball Fight (Saturday, January 15, 2011 9:00am)
The Flurrious! festival will kick off with the Spash Panic! Skivvie Snowball Fight. The event has been incorporated into the festival due to permitting issues that needed to be addressed if the event were to be held at Bidwell Parkway. Once again an event that only includes Delaware Park. All of the other Buffalo parks are left out.The Olmsted Parks group doesn't do anything for any other of the Buffalo parks(South and Caz). How about paving the ring road at South this summer,It's been neglected for a long time.

When Scott and I first approached Olmsted to build a Frisbee golf course in Delaware Park (which we're still working on), we began to meet at the Parkside Lodge. It wasn't long before we pitched Olmsted on the Flurrious! festival which we brought to the table. We designed the festival around a park that was close to where we live. The beauty of this is that anyone can, and should, get involved with the Olmsted Parks no matter where they live. If you were to approach Olmsted with an event, and you outlined it from start to finish (as we did), I'm sure that Olmsted would help to make sure that the event was a success. Scott and I would be happy to share with you the process as best we can, and BRO would certainly help to get the word out.

Maybe call it Delaware Park FLURRIOU$!

sorry for the snark just kidding, I appreciate the efforts but living in South Buffalo we get forgotten all the time. Delaware Park has a large proportion of people but take up almost 100% of the events.

For me and my family though we'll be saving our money and going to the Chestnut Ridge Winterfest and Powder Keg Downtown ,both are free.

You know what would be super cool for next year? Ultimate Frisbee on ice. It would be awesome with or without skates.

I agree - there are other Olmsted Parks in Buffalo. I think the costs and $$ will scare off many potential supporters of the parks. Many people rightfully assume..."why should we pay to use our parks...? This should be done every winter, all winter.."

It still is a great event and worth the visit and $.

We'll be there; but I feel as others do: Delaware gets all the PR and the other parks are seemingly put on the back burner most times - with events like this. Like all the great and beneficial developments and $$ going in to the west side - which I applaud. There are many great things happening there. BUT - BUT, the far east side is left as an univited guest once again. We live in a "city" and not on "-sides"

then again, I guess this event is also based on the premise that the PArksideLodge and food, etc... zoo.... are all centrally located....

Caz Park is a great venue for this - too bad BOPC or the City does not put $$$ in to the Caz Casino so it would be open and fully functioning every day.

This is a great event as BRO posts it. Thank you and see you there!
