Bowling for love by Cassie Elsaesser:
Yes, the holidays are over and the swank parties are fewer and fewer, but that doesn't mean that you can't throw on a killer outfit and head out on the town. Short dresses with a 20's flare are making a comeback this season. Adding interesting and trendy accessories can take your 20's dress from dated to daring.
A huge trend we have been seeing on the runways this season, is gold jewelry. Gold jewelry can add a fun trend to any dress and a little shine to your black outfit. It seems to be that the more dramatic the necklace or bracelet is the better. Monique Lhuilier added gold jewelry to her black runway ready dresses. This took her black cocktail dresses to another level completely, taking it from plain LBD to a jeweled runway masterpiece. Geren Ford added gold accessories to her monochromatic outfits this season, for some the monochromatic trend can be a bit boring but adding a bold gold necklace or bracelet can take your outfit to a fun flirty level.

Short 20's 'style' dresses are also a huge trend for the season. The key is adding fun flares to update your look. Max Azria took 20's inspired dresses down the runway in multiple color shades, including sheer white and black. This trend can be dressed down with black tights and minimal jewelry or dressed up with bare legs (maybe add nude tights in winter) and a lot of jewelry for added flare.
For men this season we have seen the "preppy" style come back into play. From collared shirts and sweaters to blazers and fitted trousers, this trend is adding sophistication to menswear. Finding this trend locally is much easier than you may think. Holly Hue a designer here in Buffalo has a great collection of men's and women's sweaters available at local boutiques, including Splash Panic!. Her take on 70's inspired prep is not only on trend for this season, but a perfect way to keep cozy while looking fabulous.

This season bold accessories are key to completing any outfit. Whoever said "less is more" didn't see how amazing stacked necklaces paired with a short dress could be. Just remember to always have with your accessories as well as fashion.
