This holiday season, the Theodore Roosevelt Site at the Wilcox Mansion will be hosting the 36th annual Victorian Christmas.
The celebration will go on from now until December 11 and will feature a series of festive events. Admission to the TR Site museum will be reduced to half its regular price during this time. The rooms of the mansion will be adorned with Victorian inspired holiday decorations. There will be plenty of Christmas shopping opportunities between the new Museum Shoppe, Snowflake Boutique and Tempting Treasures shops.
The Victorian Christmas hours at the TR Site will be Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. General admission will be $5 per person. There will also be a shuttle available during the week for those interested in visiting the museum. From Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. a van will be continuously making trips between the Holiday Inn parking lot at 620 Delaware Avenue and the TR Site. This service is limited to the weekdays and will not be running during the evening.
Aside from the museum tours, there will also be several special events. On Monday, December 6 and Thursday, December 9, the up-and-coming chefs of Niagara County Community College Culinary Arts Program will be serving candlelight dinners. The cost is $45 per person and includes a champagne reception, dinner of chef's choice appetizer, entrée and dessert, as well as red or white wine with dinner and other beverages. These dinners will also include entertainment. Monday's evening will feature the Freudig Singers of Western New York and Thursday will include "Prints, Plaids, Pretty! A Vintage Fashion Show."
On Friday, December 10, the TR Site will be hosting a dinner theater, featuring Charles' Dickens' "A Christmas Carol," featuring a solo performance by Channel 7's Chief Meteorologist Mike Randall. Reservations to this event will be $65 per person and will include a gourmet meal provided by Café Allegro Catering, champagne and wine at dinner. Champagne will be served at 5:30 p.m. and the dinner theater will commence at 6:30 p.m.
