Hockey Towne USA Fan Fest

Hockey Towne USA Fan Fest
The hockey world is coming to Buffalo this holiday season and Buffalo is waiting with open arms. 100,000 fans will be congregating for the IIHF World Junior Championship - the world's "Top Gun" for junior hockey. Buffalo will play host Sunday December 26th through Wednesday January 5th.

HT USA Fan Fest is being held in conjunction with this event at the newly renovated Buffalo Convention Center.  Some of the special features include: Interactive games and activities, Bubble Hockey Tournament, hockey equipment, sports cards and memorabilia dealers, merchandise vendors, RapidShot Hockey Training System, Kids Zone with activities and a Silly Band Trading Area, Buffalo's favorite food selections, a 'Pampered Zone' for hockey moms (featuring wine and cheese, jewelry and crafts, live entertainment, and children's performers). There will also be a 32'x56' synthetic ice hockey rink for exhibitions that is sponsored by Center Home Ice Arenas, Strong Hockey Innovations and Synchronet Industries.  And for the 21 and older crowd, come visit Molson's Hockey House, a version of what was on display at the Vancouver Olympics.

Hockey Towne USA Fan Fest is a true community event allowing many local civic and charitable groups and organizations to sell raffle tickets with a portion of the proceeds going to the individual organizations, such as the Buffalo Police Athletic League (PAL), Camp Good Days and Special Times, as well as the Independent Health Foundation and area youth hockey associations.

Make plans to be part of this once in a lifetime experience - Hockey Towne USA Fan Fest runs Mon. 12/27 10am-9pm, Tues. 12/28 10am-9pm, Wed. 12/29 10am-5pm.

For more details please check out the Hockey Towne USA Fan Fest website.  Let's show the world what Buffalo is all about.  See you there!

The tournament actually starts with group play the 26th, and concludes with the medal games on January 5th, with games pretty much every day. I'm not sure where you got the 12/27-12/29 dates. I'm really excited for it, the USA/Canada final from last year was one of the best hockey games I've seen in a long time.

I don't understand why some in Buffalo wish to "steal" the title of "Hockey Town USA" from Detroit. Detroit is Hockey Town USA but that doesn't diminish the passion for hockey in Buffalo. We have great hockety fans here and hockey is a part of who many of us are but Buffalo is not Hockey Town USA...Detroit is. Deal with it.

That Title was bestowed upon the Red Wings by their Marketing Department. Guess you have to respect! It's a Tradition dating back to the mid to late 90's!

Buffalo is the best US hockey market by far. Detroit isn't even close. What a great event this will be for Buffalo. This is hockey's version of the World Cup. Buffalo will shine in front of the entire world!!

All hail to the jocks. It is so much better for our taxes to go to subsidizing their games instead of supporting cultural and educational institutions.

Why don't you do an intelligent comparison between cultural events and sporting events and see what brings more $$ into the community.....then come back to your comment why it's "better" for taxes to go to subsidizing their games.

And no...I'm not saying its "better". You can't even use that word as most cultural events that bring people are given tax dollars.

Is it really only about the almighty dollar to you? Is everything really judged on how much revenue it brings in? This is the same mentality that sends our jobs to Mexico and China because they aren't economically viable here. I refuse to use money as the sole determiner of value.

Well said Louis Tully. Come try again when you have a point. Why can't we come up with our own moniker rather than try to poach someone elses? Even though the Dallas Cowboys have been on a 12 year skid, they are "America's Team" I do not like the Patriots but based on their success over that same span couldn't they also be "America's Team?" I realize this is marketing. We don't need to market Buffalo as "Hockey Town" We can come up with something else.
