Sabres Sold? Terry Pegula Reportedly Signs LOI to Acquire Sabres from Tom Golisano
Comments
Leave a commentThe good news is this guy has some real dough, like 2-3 times Golisano, lets just hope he has a little more fire in his belly to WIN also. And lets get some hockey people in here to run the business.
DITTO on that comment!!
There are "hockey people" out there around the league. Those with 20 years ice time and those with the business savvy as well. I 100% agree that this new owner MUST have the desire to WIN it all at any cost and NOT just treat his new "purchase" as a mere financial investment while focusing on and prioritizing SALES of new ridiculous jerseys, posters, jackets, etc... LETS MAKE A HOCKEY TEAM!!
We have been sooo close sooo many times.
First? - insist RIVET give back 75% of his salary since he was signed. Trade him to Edmonton for 2 sticks and 3 pucks.
You think Craig Rivet is the biggest problem with the Sabres? When was the last time you watched a game?
Please let this be the end of Larry Quinn!
maybe we will finally put a halfway decent team on the ice...cuz the current iteration sucks badly. We3 always have a small skilled team that come playoof time, gets knocked around like a junior team versus the larger stronger teams. The organization is not very good overall. Regier must have pics of someone's wife because he is known as the worst GM in pro sports.
Not always... In the early 90's they had one of the highest payrolls in the league. Rigas funded...
i'm pretty sure that was under the knoxes.
In fairness to Golisano we were at the salary cap in 2006, which is the same as having the highest payroll in the league, and not suprisingly that might have been the best team in franchise history. Ironically it was one of the few years that the team made a profit. Making it to the third round will do that for you. The shame was that they had no idea how to recognize what they had early enough to make the right moves because they have no hockey people in the business department. Regier has made some good moves but I can't help but think he has Quinn in his ear which renders him powerless. Losing a top prospect like Campbell is just unacceptable. He was our pick, our prospect and we developed him. Bring on a new owner and some hockey minds that will give Lindy some players that we can respect.
Could Golisano be getting money together to be part of Bills ownership group?
No...he hates NYS...never ever happen...Bills will be moving as soon as Howdy Doody dies. Guaranteed
Golisano has been asked several times about purchasing the Buffalo Bills. Each time he says he would be very interested in being involved in the ownership of the Bills.
Hopefully Terry Pegula will surround himself with NHL know-how. I hope this means the end of Larry Quinn as "managing partner" The team has deteriorated since 2006 and appears to be continuing to deteriorate this season under Larry Quinn's incompetant "leadership"
The Balisillie thing has been pretty much quashed for a while. Bettman won't allow it. And as far as the letter of intent, isn't that pretty meaningless? Anyone can make an offer.
The word from a credible source who is close with the buyer is that its pretty much a done deal.
A letter of intent is signed by the buyer and the seller so it certainly isn't just a meaningless offer. Some deals may fall apart between LOI and closing but that's the exception, not the rule. The Sabres have denied this report and claim that no LOI is signed.
I love this.
Maybe, just maybe, the misfortune Buffalonians have endured for the last half century is changing before our eyes.
And, Im not just talking about sports. More things happening here now then the preveious 20 years combined.
Go Buffalo!
In an interview wiht the New York Post, Tom Golisano was quoted as saying that it made economic sense to leave NY. He said that the taxes were too high to continue to live in NY and to continue to do business in NY. The current speculation is that he may move Paychex out of Rochester in the future, and this was the reason that Jonathan Judge stepped down as CEO of that company earlier this year. He also made comments about selling the Sabres and his other interests in NY as payback for his failed run at the Governor's office and the Millionaire's tax that went into effect under Patterson. The sale of the Sabres shouldn't be a surprise. I only hope he decides to keep Paychex in NY.
This guy may also be the only shot the Bills have of keeping the team in Buffalo when Ralph passes. I hear he would ultimately love to own a football team, and he would be the perfect majority investor for the Bills.
just the facts...done deal with announcement at NHL Governors mtg in December.

@RealDeal...I spit out my drink laughing...
RonB, what did RealDeal's comment say that was so funny? It looks missing now.
Realdeal aroused him with some sex talk.

What does it mean for the "Sabres," you ask? It means they are going to be renamed the Buffalo Frackers.
