Buffalo Clubs

Buffalo Clubs
No, I'm not talking about the ones that require to sport a dress or coat and tie. I'm talking about the ones that are run out of churches, schools and other places where the rent is cheap, the utilities are on, and the doors are open long enough to congregate. What are these clubs, where are they, and how do people find them? From fencing to chess, knitting to cards, scuba to collectors... if you know of a club that anyone can join, whether it be board games, playing cards, bird watching, magic, cigar, beer, scotch, bike, running, boating, or any other activity, please share with us.

Along the same lines, there are always established and start-up clubs that are looking for spaces to meet. If you are aware of any venues looking to attract enthusiasts with various interests, please share that information as well. There are a lot of clubs out there that are constantly looking to attract members, and there are always people looking to meet people with similar interests. If you don't feel like leaving a message below, please feel free to contact me here. At the same time, if you are on the hunt for a specific club and cannot find it, please let people know.

Scooter clubs, vegetarian/vegan, astronomy, paranormal, photography, pet, car, music, history, etc...

We have a Sailing Club, a 'Buffalo Boat Share' for Members. In the off- season we are planning for monthly meetings where we can watch sailing movies, cook-out, dreaming and planning about cruising in the Caribbeans.

There should be a special section on this site for different clubs to get their name out there. Like a button at the top or something.

Hey there is a great dance group that meets twice a month at the Unitarian Universalist Church at Elmwood & W. Ferry...it's Queen City Contra Dancers. No experience necessary, instruction provided. You learn as you dance mostly. Kid and teen friendly. We're smoke and alcohol free and mostly perfume free! Live music from some really talented musicians from all over the country and a dance "caller/teacher" also from all over. If you know your right from your left..you can contra dance. Check us out on facebook or our website www.qccd.org.

While we are a members group you do not need to "join" to enjoy the dances.

There's a really good website for this sort of thing: http://www.meetup.com/

It's because of that site that I found out about The Buffalo Gamers Society who meet at Panera Bread to play board and cardgames as well as at UB to play D&D and other roleplaying games.

The Buffalo Gamers Society (for both roleplaying games like D&D and board and card games of all sorts like Settlers of Catan, etc.) also meets on Thursday nights on the 3rd floor of Rockwell Hall at Buff State, for those who don't want to trek out to UB North.
