Bisons To Host Ballpark Brew Bash

Bisons To Host Ballpark Brew Bash
The baseball season may be over, but the Buffalo Bisons will be continuing the fun at Coca-Cola Field by hosting their first annual Ballpark Brew Bash on Saturday, October 16 from 2-6 p.m.

The Brew Bash will feature craft beers from local breweries, as well as ones from breweries across the state of New York.   There are currently 12 breweries to sample from, and more will be announced in the near future.  The event is being sponsored by the Buffalo Bisons and Rich Products.  The proceeds from the Brew Bash will go toward the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's goal of "adding tomorrows every day."

In addition to beer, one can sample hard cider from Woodchuck and wine from Leonard Oakes Estate Winery.  During the event, visitors can take a tour of the field, listen to music, and purchase food from vendors.  There will be games and a silent auction as well.

Visitors can expect to see the following breweries at the event:

    * Flying Bison Brewing Company
    * Brewery Ommegan
    * Brooklyn Brewery
    * Ellicottville Brewing Company
    * Pearl Street Brewery
    * Spatan Munchen Dunkel
    * Great Lakes Brewing Company
    * Saranac Brewery
    * Southern Tier Brewing Company
    * Dundee Ales and Lagers
    * Long Trail Brewing Company
    * Sam Adams Boston Lager

Tickets are $25 at the event.  Presale tickets can be obtained for $20 by calling (716) 846-2032.  The price of admission includes a complimentary tasting glass and 20 tickets to buy three-ounce samples of beer.  The event is open to those 21 years of age and up.  Proper ID will be required to get in.

Why so late in the fall? It's going to be chilly, unless the heat wave of fall '09 comes again. Not to mention the concourse is open-air.

Speaking of the concourse, I assume this is where the event will be held? Since the field is undergoing renovations. So what will the "tour of the field" that you mention consist of?

I love beer fests, and I'd love to see Pilot Field (yes I still call it that) used more for events, but I'm not sold on this one. The concourse is dingy and uninviting, compared to the bright atrium at the arena. It's not enclosed so the likelihood it will be cold makes me think the hard cider warmed up will be a top seller. The field is a mud-pit so there goes your best selling point of the stadium.

If they included Pettibones into this plan that would be great because it's enclosed and provides a nice atmosphere and view. But is it going to be big enough? I know it seems huge when I'm in there, but that's usually because I'm one of about 4 people in there.

Also, as someone pointed out with a previous event, you can't have a "first annual". It's inaugural.
