Mosaic Seeks Submissions

The Family Justice Center is seeking submissions from local artists and photographers for its juried art show and auction October 21st. Held in Babeville's Asbury HalI, it's a very cool event that has grown steadily over the past two years. For the 3rd year of the event, the FJC is changing the name from "A New stART" to "Mosaic".

Mosaic will be held at Asbury Hall, on Thursday, October 21, 2010, 5:30 - 8:30 pm.  The auction is for the benefit of the FJC, and proceeds will be split 50-50 between the artists and the FJC. The event also features a nice selection of hors d'oeuvres and wines for the attendees.

Open to artists 16 years of age and older working on canvas and paper in any medium, including photography, the show recognizes the courage and resilience of survivors of domestic violence.  Thus, works must be culturally sensitive and focused on the possibility of change and hope. Submissions must be received by September 13, 2010.


 
The Family Justice Center of Erie County, Inc. is an invaluable resource in our community, providing one-stop, free, wraparound services to victims of domestic violence and their children. The Center is a collaboration of 12 on-site partners, including the Buffalo Police Department, Erie County District Attorney, Erie County Probation Department, Neighborhood Legal Services, Crisis Services, Haven House, Hispanics United of Buffalo, International Institute of Buffalo, Child Advocacy Center and the University at Buffalo Department of Family Medicine.

The jurors for Mosaic are David L. Buck, president and creative director of Crowley, Webb and Associates; Joanna Angie, founder and director of the Buffalo Arts Studio; and renowned artist Ani Hoover.
