Tower Jam Concert Series

Tower Jam Concert Series
Inspired by the Powder Keg Festival, and the need for more outdoor events in downtown Buffalo, Roaming Buffaloes Outdoor Adventure Club has come up with a Friday evening concert series that is sure to please the masses. After building the World's Largest Ice Maze at One HSBC Center's plaza, it was decided that the venue would be perfect for more events throughout the course of the year. Combine that with the need to offer office workers another stellar music event to kick off the weekend, Tower Jam was created to inspire downtowners to take dress-down Fridays to a whole other level.

While designing the Powder Keg Festival, it was decided that the plaza at One HSBC Center was a major asset to the city... and one that was completely underutilized. Starting June 11th, Tower Jam will lead off with a Miles Davis tribute, incorporating both local and regional musicians. The line-up will be led by Brownman, an internationally acclaimed trumpeter from Toronto. The series will continually rotate music styles (what do you want to hear?) throughout the summer. Between the manicured venue with built-in seating (planters), great views, immediate Metro Rail access and vast amounts of space, this could become one of the city's 'funnest' outdoor concert series.

Along with music, concert-goers can expect a wide range of food along with beer and wine. A fully equipped sound stage (at One HSBC Center) will be set up complete with lights to get people jazzed for some fun in the sun before heading out for a night on the town. Roaming Buffaloes is looking for vendors interested in setting up during the concert series, as the ongoing event is likely to grow each and every time. Don't be surprised to see a lot more than music at the venue. Partial proceeds to benefit the Buffalo Police Athletic League. For sponsorship information, or to contact Roaming Buffaloes, please send an email here.

Save the date: The first Tower Jam will take place at One HSBC Center on Friday June 11th from 4:30pm to 7:30pm.

- A fully equipped sound stage will be set up complete with lights to get people jazzed for some fun in the sun before they head to the Commercial Slip and the Erie Basin Marina for sublime sunset surroundings.

Going from the concert to the Slip/Marina is a short walk away.

Please tell me you are kidding.

"After building the World's Largest Ice Maze at One HSBC Center's plaza, it was decided that the venue would be perfect for more events throughout the course of the year."

"before they head to the Commercial Slip and the Erie Basin Marina for sublime sunset surroundings"

That in conjunction with the fact that it is called TOWER Jam Concert Series and the picture showing HSBC Tower, it seems something should have tipped you off as to where it is. I'm convinced nobody really reads 80% of the story before commenting.

Lester: It must be tough getting lectured by a complete toolbox like Norwood. You'd think he be too busy criticizing our troops to care.

It's about time we use the plaza in front of our regions tallest building. It's only been there for 45 years, but this is exactly the type of excitement needed to make this end of Main Street more vibrant. I would like to hear a mix of neo soul, classic rock, r&b (old and new), local artists, dance and even comedy.

Sounds interesting...might make a good night coupled with City Grill, Pearl Street, the reborn Shanghi Reds...or god forbid (sarcasm) get on our light rail and combine it with a Chippewa Street/Theatre District restaurant. I like the location and the event times (4:30 - 7:30 p.m.). Fills a nice little hole in our great summer music scene.

Are they going to try to compete with Buffalo Place on the Friday's that Rocks the Harbor is scheduled? (6/25, 7/16, and 8/6) I don't know how much overlap there will be between the "Rocks" and the "Blues" but it is worth considering making an effort not to spread music fans too thin.

Will it compete with any restaurant/bars that have entertainment during that time? I'm not aware of any that do. But they hope for Friday night happy hour traffic.
