Every year they have their beach bash and import a truckload of sand. Well, when the party is over the pile of sand sits out in the front of the building waiting for the rain to wash it way. Not only does the sand sit there all year long, it's also littered with cigarette butts and broken glass, the place is turning its back on taking care of the area.

I don't know why any business would leave its neighborhood a mess.
Between businesses that don't clean up outside their stores, the tacky handpainted frontage signs, and the tattered streamers crisscrossing Hertel Ave. making it look like a used car lot instead of a shopping district, the whole street is starting to look like hell.

I love how it is occasionally alright for Buffalo Rising to play muckraker and throw a business under the bus. I mean this is probably the first time BRO has ever mentioned Gabels.
BUT!!!!!!!!!! (oh no, here it comes) If it's a business that someone at BRO is friends with and a reader mentions how terrible that business is in their opinion, then the Gestapo sets to work and voices are silenced.
Are you contending that some Buffalo Rising writers like some places and don't like other places? That would be a groundbreaking claim except that it's true of every human on the planet.
yeah but bro is a media outlet that is supposed to show impartiality. Last week they wrote about the wonderful food available at the pink but not a word about the absurdity that occurs after the place closes & the disruption to the neighborhood. So for you to claim "Well everybody has a bias." is pretty blockheaded, we all know that, thanks for the revelation. My impression is that BRO's main goal is not to editorialize.
On the flip side, I think Gable's is a gross, vile establishment yet indicative of what much of Hertel is all about. I wouldn't expect them to put the sand in a dumpster but washing it into the sewer is the LEAST they could do.
And why don't you try to find one example of BR making unjustified attacks on places. This was brought up because of concerned people in the community, not some evil plot of the writers. Get over it.
It's a crusty, college dive bar. What do you expect? When is the last time you met a reputable bar owner that took good care of their property? Not sure the purpose of this post, just call the city ordinance.
The place looks like a dump, are you sure it isn't a picture of Merge?
There is no reason they should be allowed toleave their trash out on the sidewalk. I suggest the neighbors keep calling the city and maybe speak with the bar owner?
Also, business is bad, you're an ass.
No to disagree that Gabel's is a dump, however, you can't really base your opinion off that picture.
I would hope someone complained to the mayor resolution line. Here is the address: http://www.ci.buffalo.ny.us/Home/City_Departments/Citizens_Services/311_Self-Service
Also call Councilmans LoCorto office at 851-5155....Although BRO is a great place to make people aware of this problem they should try calling the news stations...It works especially Channel 4 call for action.....
Due to LouisTully's obvious, and meanie-spirited, reference to Campieri's Pizza (Best Pizza Eva!™) I move that this entire post be stricken from the record.
HOW MUCH CAN ONE PIZZAMAN SUFFER?
I drove by this place the other day, wow what a mess, all the sand and crap is still sitting there.

It's "Gabels" not "Gables" (typo in title and article).
