2010 Buffalo Place Rocks the Harbor Line-up

2010 Buffalo Place Rocks the Harbor Line-up
It's that time of year again, folks, time when Buffalo Place unveils their plans for our summertime listening enjoyment. This is only the release for the Rock the Harbor series held at the Erie Canal Harbor, not Thursday in the Square. We'll have to keep you posted about that one.

We know the comments on this post will fill up pretty quickly as people express excitement over their favorite band coming to town, or groan about the port-a-potties and pricey beer, or claim that the line-up is too hip/not hip enough, but think of this: We Buffalonians get the opportunity to attend a ton of free and/or affordable outdoor concerts in a variety of stunning and interesting locations all summer long--from big shows at Artpark to smaller gigs such as the Elmwood Village music series. So, feel free to weigh-in below, but let's not lose sight of the sheer volume of opportunities we'll have this summer to drink beer, catch a show, hang with friends and soak up a little sunshine!

If any drum circles get out of hand I may have to come armed with a Slayer CD.

I haven't heard of any of these groups except for moe Donna the Buffalo.

I am very excited for Citizen Cope! However, I was hoping that Great Big Sea would be an annual show, they are so much fun live, and seem to like Buffalo!

moe with Keller Williams and Donna the Buffalo is outstanding! Also, I saw Crowded House many years ago...and they put on a great show.

nice preemptive strike at deflecting criticism but the line ups for the past five years have been getting worse every year. it seems like the promoters feel that they can put anyone on the stage since all the audience cares about is cheap labatts & people watching. I'm not expecting A list or even B list bands but "most" of these groups would be hard pressed to fill the Mohawk on a Sat night! and don't give me the garbage about how these are free/cheap shows so don't complain. if you can't put on a good show, don't bother, just have a karaoke machine. as long as there's beer people will still come in droves.

That's just wrong. Outside of a couple early Cypress Hill songs, I couldn't care less about the bands playing, but most of the headliners could easily sell out the Town Ballroom.

4matic - First: You sound rediculous
Second: Although they are not my favorite bands, I've heard of every one of them and know their music. Well done Buffalo Place!

Let's hope the weather is nice for the shows !

did I say I'd never heard of them? however, they're all niche bands except for cypress hill. if you're seriously excited about... Keller Williams that's great I'm sure you'll have a lifetime of memories from the show.

Artpark just released their summer line-up today. It looks like we will have two or three decent free concerts each week somewhere in WNY.

I thought Keller Williams was a realitor? Anyway I think the line up blows personally. I wish I was into jam bands because they certainly covered that demographic.

Buffalo Place consistently has had a summer line-up (both free and not) that targets only one demographic of the local population. Specifically, they mostly book "all-white rock bands". There is simply no diversity represented - whether it be in the genre of music being played or the make-up of the bands. And the one or two token concerts outside of the "all white rock band" genre doesn't cut it.

When will Buffalo stop being so parochial?

I completly agree with you. But, if your looking for LIVE, LOCAL R&B music? Come to Spot Coffee, 227 Delaware Ave. every Tuesday night from 6pm-9pm for 'BUFFALO'S GOT TALENT' Showcase. A 'DIVERSE' mix of Music, comedy, spoken word and dance. If Buffalo Place wont be diversed, others will. And it's FREE!!!

did you miss the robert cray/keb mo concert 2 years ago and robert cray again last year? those two blues shows drew a very diverse crowd and a good time was had by all each time.

wow you should try getting out sometime...OAR alone has sold out Madison Square Garden (which is a little bigger than Mohawk) on 3 occasions in the past 3 years....some people like to complain just to read their posts on a webpage....

True, but they still are the most cheesy white college kid generically contrived band.

you're right, what audacity to complain about something. my apologies for feeling strongly about this. I should be thankful to be have the option to see moe for the 9'000th time. btw the WWE sells out MSG too, clear proof that events that sell that venue out must worthy of our respect

I love the b^tchfest as much as anyone else, because it makes the comment section interesting and fun to read. But the complaints about free concerts and where Freddy gets his chicken from are worthy of a swift kick in the nuts. Here's the thing about this website, constructive criticism might actually bring about change, but the gripes by bhorvath and brownteeth are laughable at best and won't change a thing in this city. I have no idea what you do in your daily life to make a difference, but something tells me it involves nothing more than pointing out the negatives that exist. We all know those bands aren't life-changing, and we all know that Freddy's chicken probably isn't free-range from a WNY farm, but both are a potentially positive experience for those of us who try to exist in a city that we all know will never be where it was 100 years ago. So lighten the f*ck up and contribute something...please.

Hilarious. You're complaining about people complaining. Thanks for your enlightening contribution.

Man you really have it out for me don't you? Apparently the only comments you have read by me were the only two where I complained about something, which is rare for me here. So you lighten up and whether you agree with me or not I love this city for the good and bad despite what you think of me.

Sloan is an incredibly overlooked band. they played Thurs/sq abt 4 years ago & the town ballroom abt 3 yrs ago. don't think they've been back since.
