He told me that the inn took a big hit during the October Storm - that's when they lost their awning and a major part of the building was damaged. Since that time the owner has fixed the issues and I must say that the unusual looking building is unusually eye-catching. Maybe that is because there is nothing else like it around. The website lists amenities that include delectable breakfasts served in the dining area or guests can request breakfast delivered to their rooms. Air conditioning, cable, private baths in some units, laundry facilities and single to queen-sized beds are also on the list.
As far as location goes, Richmond Place Inn is within walking distance of Kleinhans Music Hall and Allentown. It's also right on the Richmond bike lane that can get you to destinations along Elmwood effortlessly.
Singles go for as little as $59 - tax included.

A little bit of Queens right in Buffalo.
first thing i thought of too.
X-TREEM!!! wrought iron disease. Yeah, I thought it was a photo from Queens, too!
FWIW, I never heard of the place either, even when I searched B&B directories and Google for bed and breakfast inns in Buffalo.
what hath god 'wrought'...
A Virgin Mary statue somewhere among the lions, perhaps.
The lack of trees just seems to reinforce the Queens Fedders house look of the site.
Seriously, the very ... uhhh, old-school Italian-American appearance of the building can probably be attributed to "improvements" by a previous property owner. I think many of us don't even know what Buffalo's vernacular architecture used to look like before the onslaught of Insulbrick, aluminum and vinyl siding, decorative metal railings and balustrades, and aftermarket picture windows. Architecturally intact bungalows, two-flats and other vernacular frame houses that weren't built for the upper end of the market are few and far between in Buffalo.
yes, a Mary on the half shell is obligatory w/ the architectural style that could be called Early Italian Nightmare.
