National Opera Star Lends Help to CGLI

National Opera Star Lends Help to CGLI
By Rachel Weymouth
There are many organizations around Buffalo that help out those in need, including a new group to help the youth of Buffalo. The Culture of Giving Legacy Initative (CGLI) is a group under the organization of Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo (CFGB). CGLI was started in 2008 to help youth from low income areas enjoy new experiences.
On March 4th the group is having an inaugural event to gain awareness for this new initiative. Angela Brown, an Opera singer from NYC is coming to Buffalo to host the event. Brown was recently featured on CNN and has a one women show called "Opera from a Sister's Point of View". Brown will be performing her one-woman show at Kleinhans Music Hall for Buffalo Public School students in grades 4 through 6. The show is witty and full of opera plots, dancing and different characters. Brown will perform from 6 to 8 PM.
CGLI is made up of 16 multi-cultural multi-ethnic leaders with deep ties in the community. The members include a team of professionals who strive to make a difference with the students, believing that, if given a chance, these youth will strive for the best in their lives and succeed.

How lucky Buffalo is to have a chance to see and enjoy this magnificent singer. And she is an even bigger human being than she is a superb artist.

listened today on 94.5. She was excellent, communicative and very aware of her audience. Wonderful to get kids exposed to opera in person. Hope it inspires a few to become fans.
