This is It & Tunes4Food

This is It & Tunes4Food
With the success of 2009's Tunes4Food events, Event Organizer Bob James continues his mission of using music to reach out to those in need, in 2010. March 19th will see the third Tunes4Food event at 8PM, at Mohawk Place. Instead of a 25-hour marathon of music as in past events, T4F 3 will be a CD release party for another longstanding project of James': the music compilation THIS IS IT, now on the 4th volume.

THIS IS IT volume 4 is the third release in a line of discs celebrating the rich alternative rock scene in Buffalo from 1975 through 1989. The first release, put out in 2002 is a massive 2-disc set of 46 tracks, focusing on artists from 1977 through 1984, and featuring artists such as the Vores, Dave Meinzer, and Terry Sullivan. A reunion show held in 2002 to celebrate the release of the compilation was then recorded, and released as the third volume "THIS IS IT Live +" in 2003. These two discs, and their accompanying events, benefited the Future Leaders Network. Continuing this trend, THIS IS IT volume 4 will solidify the relationship between Tunes4Food and the Food Bank of Western New York, the previous beneficiary of the Tunes4Food events.

Similar to the other Tunes4Food events, the CD and its release party will be bringing together different generations of Buffalo music. Starting with the reunion of Pauline & the Perils, other featured performers are Terry Sullivan, The Vores, Bob James, Free Henry!, Mike Vargovich, Grace Stumberg, and Sons of Chuck Berry. On the CD, the emerging artists cover a song by a band from the earlier alternative rock scene. The mix of styles, influences, and ages should spread to the crowd as well; there is something for everyone to enjoy at this show. Whether you're celebrating the old scene, taking in the newer scene, or supporting a good cause - supporting events which bring parts of our community together - support the greater Buffalo community as a whole. Using music to achieve that higher ground of service is what Tunes4Food strives for, and certainly something our community needs.

We'll see you there.

Show at 8PM on Friday, March 19th. Tickets are $10 at the door, and CDs will be available at the show. Earlier volumes of THIS IS IT are available online at cdbaby. the first "this is it" compilation is a really cool comp of hard to find tracks with some great bands - the jumpers, the vores, the enemies, etc.

i see volume 3 and 4 are described above...what was volume 2?
