LolaPearl Bake Shoppe and City Wine Merchant Tasting

LolaPearl Bake Shoppe and City Wine Merchant Tasting
This Friday, February 5th, City Wine Merchant will host a wine and cupcake tasting with LolaPearl Bake Shoppe, from 5:30 to 8PM, at 715 Main Street.

LolaPearl is the product of Lindsay Gregg, and is named after her two grandmothers, Lola and Pearl, who introduced Gregg to the art of love through cupcakes at a very early age.  Gregg, whose father is local watercolor artist, Bob Gregg, has found her creativity through baking, and is shopping for storefronts for the near future in the Allentown or Elmwood sections of the city.

"Spread the love, right?" Lindsay says.  "I've been working out of my house, taking orders and filling them when my day job permits, but this tasting with Eric Genau at City Wine Merchant is going to be great."

Lindsay (below) isn't divulging exactly what flavors she'll be serving, but she says she worked up some special concoctions in honor of Valentine's Day, and that Genau has paired them nicely with wines, and not necessarily dessert wines.

She is admitting to her signature red velvet variety, and says all the other flavors have been taste-tested on her co-workers at her day job at Independent Health. On Friday, Lindsay is eager to see what the general public thinks during this free event.

Check out Lindsay's blog here, and be sure to come in for the tasting.  It'll be a sweet way to kick off the weekend, and if you like what you see, or rather taste, Lindsay is ready to take orders.

oh, adorable! i love it! hope this is a big success and good luck to lindsay in finding a good storefront in the near future!

also, lindsay - just something to think about : master a good vegan recipe for cupcakes and you'll have yourself one heck of a loyal following already built.

Pretty cool! -but am I the only one who thought that cupcake was pastrami before the image fully loaded? ;)

you just gotta open up a storefront on Elmwood; it would be mobbed!

Do you honestly believe that?

I'm sorry, but the bar on cupcakes was raised years ago in other cities and here in Buffalo to. This is a sweet story but professional bakeries all over town are doing nicer cupcakes then these, maybe it's the pix but the ones on the blog link are harsh and a little sloppy. Doesn't she need to be using a commercial kitchen if she is going to give away or sell cupcakes? I'm sure she's nice and her cupcakes might taste good, but this all seems a little amateur when there are so many bakeries in Buffalo already doing this.

Why not be an architect from home? Sure would be cheaper and a lot easier.

Publically announcing you'll be holding a tasting of something not being prepared from an inspected kitchen is about as foolish a move as a business could make. You're asking for your insurance to be cancelled, or for a visit by the health inspector just for starters.

@james_everlawn: it is a sad day for all of buffalo when a miserable old man like you will take the time to try to publicly tarnish the dreams of an enterprising young woman. The reason buffalo is a shell of a city is because of the negativity of jerks like you. I can only hope that the reason you wrote this is because she is encroaching on a potential business opportunity of yours and you are threatened by her potential upcoming success. Shame on you, James. Shame. On. You.

@benfranklin:rriiight...because every baked good that comes from a fundraiser or PTA baked good sale comes from an inspected kitchen. I think you are missing the point. If you don't want the cupcakes. Don't go.

chiefjrg ,
Well now you've gone and ruined it for all the PTAs across the country, nice.
If a young entrepreneur's dreams are dashed & smashed by a random blog response I'd hate to see her deal with pissy customers, the tax man, and the infinite line of city & state flame throwers. Welcome to the big city sucka.
