DOT Traveler Advisory Due to Exit Ramp Tubing

Comments
Leave a commentThis is ridiculous. Detouring traffic for snow tubing is wreckless and unprofessional. I am apalled that our city would permit cutting off traffic to our down town core for something so childish.
Save your outrage for NYS. Route 5 is administered by the DOT.
In addition, some research would have told you that the ramp closures by the NYSDOT are due to the corresponding street closures in the area for the festival, not directly for snow tubing as you "stated".
Stay on Transit Road so you don't give yourself an ulcer.
I can't wait for the festival!!!
Yeah, you're in the minority of people NOT excited about this. But your name says it all. You may remain in the suburbs. I hope your hillbilly winter festival is fun. What kind of things do you guys have? A dually push?
reggie, buffalot, and louistully, I was joking. I actually think its an awesome idea. I will be there.
lol I was wondering when someone was going to say something
Now is this a bring your own tube sort of thing or will they be provided? ...funny how the Powder Keg is turning one of the most hated structures in DT into one of the highlights of the festival!
(LAUGHING OUT LOUD) We really have naysayers to this fun activity? It really makes me chuckle that some folks will complain no matter what. I hope to see my other BR'ers out on the tubing hill!
I hope they won't be enforcing tubing while oblixicated laws this weekend.
This sounds AWESOME! I want in! Can someone tell me times and pricing for tubing on the Seneca St. Ramp?!
According to the Facebook group, Colden Tubing is donating the tubes for the weekend! WOOT!

so excited!
My sister and her boyfriend are driving down from Albany just for this!!!
YAY!
I LOVE THIS! hell yeah buffalo!
and lmao @ the uptight people complaining! you are what is wrong with the world.
If the "detour" were not so easy to use, I would agree with your sentiments. I frequently use the Skyway to 190 North curlicue when returning from visiting family in the Southtowns. But I checked the map, and subsquently my outrage, when I saw how simple the get off/get on will be. As long as it is well marked.
best repurposing, even if only temporary, of a highway exit ramp that i have ever seen.
but for gods sake please require helmets for tubing. i went tubing once in the southtowns. after i tried it and decided i preferred having full use of my limbs, i spent the afternoon in the clubhouse watching the wounded come in bleeding and go out on backboards, including one guy in my party. it turned out he was ok.
newell, you do not need a horrible fatality wrecking your festival!
see this article in today's paper:
http://www.buffalonews.com/2010/02/24/967353/tubing-death-in-state-park-on.html
"was badly injured after she crashed into a tree while tubing"
"when she slammed into a tree"
Fortunately there aren't any trees on the off-ramp. That I know of.
gravity being what it is, you can still get dislodged from your tube and have someone slam into you at how many mph? no one going out on backboards where i went tubing hit a tree, either.
Better wear a helmet all the time.... one might fall in the tub, slip on a mat while brushing one's teeth, trip over the dog, etc etc.
The ramp isn't very steep; they'll all live. :)
Don't forget riding an escalator, cartwheels, walking down snowy stairs, or frisbie golf as well.
Litigate it before Friday, or just shut the F*ck up.
oh, get over yourself.
Probably the first time these things will have a beneficial use.
Yes, urban skiing, what a concept!
Hope the weather guys are wrong as usual and it doesn't get up to 36 like they're predicting!
How are they getting people up there? Will there be like a transport/shuttle thing?
