Brian Davis: Stupidity Plea Nets Conditional Discharge

Brian Davis: Stupidity Plea Nets Conditional Discharge
Ex Ellicott District Councilman Brian Davis, accused of misusing $1,900 in campaign funds was granted a conditional discharge by Chief City Judge Thomas Amodeo.

Davis pled guilty to charges of misused funds and filing false reports with the Board of Elections last November, each of which could have maximum penalties of $1,000 fines and one year in prison.  Instead, he will perform 200 hours of community service, as suggested by the Erie County Probation Department, and is prohibited from holding any job that involves the handling of money, as imposed by Judge Amodeo.

This Buffalo News story further details the litany of Davis' misdeeds in reference to poor behavior that includes unpaid income tax and suspension of his license due to lapsed auto insurance. In addition, Davis has falsely claimed to have a college degree from Trinity College.

An "Outrages an Insights" column in The Buffalo News by Jim Heaney has at Davis further, calling the light sentencing "par for the course."  And you may remember Davis making a Facebook plea for himself that was posted here on BRO in April of 2009.

Good, hope they make him scrub the streets during the Powder Keg festival...with a tooth brush

A conditional discharge? No jail time? That is wonderful, wonderful news!

Of course he's not getting jail time. He probably knew someone in the court system who chose the judge to let him off easy. That's how this system works. He'll most likely end up working for Mayor Brown after his community service is completed (if he actually does any) in some way or another. That's how this system works.

Well...I can't say I'm surprised at the verdict, but I am surprised the judge didn't give Davis a Key To The City and a lap dance.

This is a fine example to set for our children.

Judge Amodeo is an elected official. Brian Davis is a member of the Erie County Democratic Committee as well as a member of the Mayor's power bloc within the Committee. You do the math.

In todays Artvoice there is a blurb about Brian Davis spending down all his discretionary dollars leaving his replacement with nothing. Way to go Brian, a real class act.

This last bit of distasteful news will only make Davis look more attractive to Brown.

This really makes my blood boil. Such a disappointment that this guy never really pays for his misdeeds.

I've done the math. Judge Amorodeo is ignorant and corrupt.
Ignorance of the law is no excuse. The J/O Judge should know better.
He and Davis should share the same cell. Tea Baggers deserve each other.
Time to clean the Chambers of myopic representatives.
PATHETIC!!!

I think this guy is a shoe-in for our next Mayor. Seems to be filling the shoes nicely. And, good call Judge--our taxpayer dollars hard at work!
