A 12-unit, two bedroom apartment complex on Monroe Street is nearly complete. The facility, a joint effort between Gateway-Longview and the Lt. Col. Matt Urban Center, will provide a home for teens and young adults who have aged out of foster care and have been placed in Gateway-Longview's Supervised Independent Living Program.
A few years ago, Gateway-Longview's Program Quality assessment department identified a need to bolster life skills support for youth, teens and young adults placed in the agency's Supervised Independent Living Programs. As a result, Gateway-Longview approached the Lt. Col. Matt Urban Center with the idea of partnering together to build a therapeutic, community-based facility to support youth and teens in need of residential care. Together, the organizations' leaders and young clients identified Monroe Place as the site where they could live, work and learn the skills necessary to become productive members of society.
The project received a $3.1 million state grant through the Homeless Housing Assistance Corporation. George Lukaszewicz Architects, P.C. designed the complex that is being built by Savarino Construction. Work started last May.

That is one ugly building
wow, it took longer than I expected for someone to criticize this building. Almost a full five hours. I'm counting down the time before someone calls it too suburban...
Where is this? Amherst? I thought I was in the suburbs for a minute.
Time?
