title "BUFFALO: ARCHITECTURE IN THE AMERICAN FORGOTTEN LAND" really is a turn-off for me. As true as it once was, and to some may even still be, I have moved beyond seeing Buffalo as "forgotten" and I am loathe to purchase something that puts, once again, BUFFFALO in a dubious light. This is so typical of the pervading negativism that continues in spite of our efforts to change national perception. Here's another example. This morning I awoke to a NPR news story about the health care bill trying to pass through congress and the senate in Washington. The reporter stated, "Under a beautiful blanket of white Washington Politicians struggled with the health care issue late into the night." Why is snow in Washington a "Beautiful Blanket" but in Buffalo it's an impediment to development and a cause célèbre for a bad rap nationwide? I hold the same feelings for the title of STEEL's book. Let's move on beyond "FORGOTTEN" its really getting to be a tired and old adjective for our burgeoning city.

You should look at the book before passing judgment The whole purpose of the publication is to expose a part of our country that HAS been forgotten and should be recognized for the important thing that it is.

This book is far from a negative accounting of Buffalo

Because in Washington, the snow hangs around for just a very short while. It is a somewhat rare occurance, and when it happens, people appreciate it. Especially because it melts away before turning brown and dirty. Here in Buffalo, however, the snow just hangs around and hangs around till April.
