You'll want
to start early, but you're going to have to plan your time carefully in order to get in on all of these events (note times below).
The Grant
Street Gallery, next to Sweetness_7, will host an opening reception for a
PUSH Buffalo fundraiser on Friday, December 18th, from 7 to 9.
There, you
can listen to the music of Daughters of Creative Sound, Ismail & Co.,
12/8th Path Band, Noel Smith, Andrew J. Reimers, and Roaring Sequoia, while you
shop for gifts from El Buen Amigo (South American Clothing & Crafts),
Designs by Dovi and Girls (Handmade African Designs), JJ's Jams, Soapworks (Great
Soaps- Great Stories), Tyshawn's Original Airbrushing, Rmah Market (Mediterranean
& African Clothing), and Pamela Grace Designs, and Handmade Designs from Burma.
And you'll want to make an early stop at Lafayette Church (Lafayette and Elmwood), for the Live Nativity (6 to 8PM). This year, there is a special twist--instead
of just looking at actors, you can have your picture taken as Mary, Joseph, a
Shepherd or an Angel--and your kid can stand in for Jesus! (Our manger can
handle a Christ-child way beyond infancy). Live sheep, goats, and ponies
that look like Burros will complete the scene and provide another special
experience for kids (all of them are friendly and pet-able.)
The Caroling
Lawyers will sing at that location from 6:30 to 7PM (My favorite number: Silent
Night--no comment at this time), and as soon as they finish, you will want to
hurry south to get to the Unitarian Church
At the Unitarian Church, on the corner of Elmwood and West Ferry, Sam Hoyt is sponsoring a community carol sing at 7PM. In addition to some fun singing, Cocoa and cookies will warm you up, and Santa will visit!
Every one of
these events is family friendly and free to attend.

Start even earlier Friday and swing by the east side for a cookie exchange at Buffalo ReUse! It starts at 5pm at 158 Eaton St...bring some cookies and leave with 5 times as many! The event will go until 7:30 or so, and of course its free!
