Pixie Mamas and Pole Play Present Benefit Show

Pixie Mamas and Pole Play Present Benefit Show

Two local groups, Pixie Mamas Dog Rescue and Pole Play Dance Studio, are coming together On December 19th at the Riviera Theatre to help raise money for mans' best friend (the 4-legged kind).

Pixie Mamas Rescue (PMR) is a group of volunteer dog lovers whose mission is to rescue, provide sanctuary, and ultimately to re-home abandoned, stray and neglected dogs. They also assist dogs who are unable to remain in their homes, no matter the reason.  Specializing in smaller breed dogs, sometimes known as "palm puppies," PMR understands that these small breeds are not simply fashion accessories, and they need as much attention and affection as any other breed.  Members of PMR endeavor to match these toy breeds with owners who understand this.

In an effort to raise funds to care for their foster charges, A Holiday Variety Show will take place at the Riviera Theatre in North Tonawanda, with holiday themed dancing, singing and entertainment performed by the Eye Candy Burlesque Dance Troupe (above). Riviera Theatre Executive Director Frank Cannata and Chelsea Celotto (top image), Owner of Pole Play Dance Studio, had the vision of bringing live entertainment back to the Riviera all for a good cause this holiday season

Celotto says, "All proceeds collected at the Holiday Show will go to the Pixie Mamas Dog Rescue Group. All PMR dogs are housed in foster homes where they are provided with an enormous amount of love and any medical attention that may be required to insure that they are in good health before adoption. They are all spayed or neutered and brought up-to-date on shots before being placed in their new homes. All dogs are evaluated for temperament and personality. This helps to place them in homes that are well suited to their needs and to the needs of their future owners."

"They are all brought up-to-date on shots before being placed in their new homes."

Are the pole dancers up-to-date on their shots as well?

Thats some nice eye candy.

I always thought "lap dogs" might be prone to abandonment or abuse. Im sure lots of people buy these kinds of dogs as fashion accessories without realizing the ammount of care they require. Its great to see some needed attention given to this important issue.

I'll second that eye candy appreciation. Especially the girl on the far right.

This is disgusting! I cannot believe that anyone would support using live animals as status symbols. It is even worse that women have abandoned their pets as they have fallen out of fashion with stars like Paris Hilton. This is even more obscene than wearing fur to bring attention to their wealth, or more likely, their parent's wealth. These women should be ashamed!

Responding to the comments made by Heather, it IS disgusting that people abandon their pets, for any reason. And don't get me started on fur...it just makes you look fat! But what do these Eye Candy women have to be ashamed of? They are supporting the animal cause by performing a free show to benefit this rescue group. What's obscene about that? The only person who should be ashamed is you for making such ignorant comments!

Responding to oldwaiter's comments - maybe you should come out of the dinosaur age and get with the program. These Eye Candy women, and all the other females who take pole dancing fitness classes at Pole Play, are professional, intelligent, beautiful ladies who someone like you would probably never stand a chance with, so I guess it's best for you to degrade them with ignorant comments instead of commending them for supporting a local charity out of the kindness of their hearts. Wake up and smell the 2010.

It's sad to see that even in 2010 people are still intimidated by beautiful and confident women embracing their sexuality. I've been to numerous EyeCandy shows, each of them tastefully sexy, humorous and full of tease which is exactly what Burlesque is. These women are supporting a good cause in an entertaining manner. I'd suggest you go back to the Ballet if you can't handle the reality of Burlesque.

It's too bad that people seem to be missing the point here: helping the animals. I wonder if the individuals who are so busy making negative comments actually do anything or are they just busy being miserable? Instead of criticizing the genuine efforts of others, how about getting involved in something worthwhile?

I give a huge Kudos to these women for supporting a great cause and having fun in the process. People need to just shut up and keep negative comments to themselves, especially if there is some good coming out of it. I'm coming to the show to show my support!

Fund raising is an art and with the economy these days, creativity can go a long way. Two thumbs up to Pixie Mamas and Eye Candy for organizing what sound like a fun event for a great cause. I hope it is well attended!
