Salsa @ The 2nd Cup
I have to hand it to The 2nd Cup Cafe for mixing it up downtown each and every month. Each time I stop in for a cup of coffee, the owner tells me about another live music performance or upcoming dance event. Many of these performances, like the Salsa Con Sabor, go until 1 o'clock in the morning. That's particularly impressive when you think that a lot of the other downtown commercial destinations pack up their bags early on Friday, only to turn the lights back on Monday morning.
From what I have heard, The 2nd Cup performances have been well-attended and have helped to attract a loyal fan base of people who not only come to the events, they also stop in for food and coffee. More and more cafes are attempting to incorporate dancing, open-mic nights, karaoke and live music into their repertoires. It's the only way to compete in the overly-saturated industry. It's also a way to draw customers away from the chains that throw big money at marketing campaigns. Plus, as more and more people move down to the loft projects, or stay in one of the new hotels, they will be looking for nearby activities.
If you're a salsa dancer, Buffalo offers plenty of chances to get out on the dance floor. Part of the fun of dancing is mixing up the venues... traveling a circuit. On December 4th, why not try out The 2nd Cup for something other than a cup of coffee? Here's a Latin dancing holiday bash with your name it. Salsa, merengue with live bachata music performed by The Latin Jazz Project - the holidays are definitely heating up at The 2nd Cup!
9pm-1pm | RSVP and student ID $5 | $8 at the door

MAP051970 - you have the wrong website as far as I can tell- the only US location of the "Second Cup" coffee based in Canada is in Wisconsin. I believe this is a completely independent store owned by locals.
