Bruce Springsteen and E Street Band: Hottest Ticket in Town

Bruce Springsteen and E Street Band: Hottest Ticket in Town
In approximately 8 hours, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will take the stage at the HSBC Arena to close out their "Working On a Dream Tour."  More significantly, this show is widely believed to be the last show by the E Street Band as we know it.  Fittingly, the band will reportedly play Greetings From Asbury Park in its entirety tonight.  And Buffalo is bustling as a result.

The aftermarket ticket scene, as evidenced by Craigslist and Stubhub, indicate tickets are going for $400-700 a piece depending on location.  There are desperate pleas from fans in town from Europe for reasonably priced tickets as they attempt to witness the last act of a band formed in 1972.  There is even one creative Craigslist poster who has offered 1 healthy kidney for a pair of tickets (with the caveat that his kidney isn't 100% healthy).  There are also sure to be some NY/NJ celebrities in town as well as there are reports Howard Stern sidekicks BaBaBooey and Artie Lang will be in the Arena.

Other Bruce-mania stories are popping up on Bruce fan websites.  A fan's story from one site:

". . just landed in Buffalo from Boston. The pilot, upon landing, said "To all of you Bruce fans, welcome to Buffalo" and then the pilot started singing some of Darkness on the Edge of Town.  Almost everyone on the plane was watching either DVD's on their laptops of Bruce, reading Clarence's book or wearing some kind of Bruce apparel. They were also handing out 'Thank You E Street Band' signs on the plane.'"

If you have tickets, get ready for a historic show. If you don't, good luck finding them.  And if you want to be part of the scene anyway, go downtown and help add to the energy.

that Craigslist poster never mentioned if that kidney was his or not...

I guess he's going to play his entire first album (which he's never done) plus this is that last stop on the tour, so tickets are tough to get. Last I checked with my friend he was trying to get a ticket and everything was above $300.I like Bruce, and if someone offered me a free ticket I'd take it, but I would never pay money to see this guy.

If past history is indicative of future results, then this would be one hell of a show. That said, I can think of better ways to spend my money than to see Bruce Springsteen one more time.

Fan or not, he did Buffalo a favor by scheduling his last show here. I spoke with a number of people out Saturday night that came in just for the show. One comment they did make... they felt everything was less expensive than Boston... accept for taxi's, they found those to be higher than home (airport to the Hyatt, $35, Hyatt to Olivers, $20).
