For a family-friendly activity the day after Thanksgiving, especially for out-of-towners who want to reconnect to the city, Buffalo Tours is conducting tours and a special event during the long Thanksgiving weekend. There's a good reason to avoid those frenetic trips to the mall!
Black Friday is also an ideal day to explore Downtown Buffalo; almost everything will be open, but with less traffic and plenty of parking.
Queen City Downtown - Friday, 11/27 10AM - Noon
This tour will follow an "Inside Downtown" route, moving from the lobby of one downtown landmark to another, keeping tour goers warm even in cool weather. Tour assembles inside the Market Arcade at the Visitors Center, 617 Main Street. $10 or $5 for students. No reservation is needed.
Buffalo City Hall - Friday, 11/27 at Noon
Visit this Art Deco masterpiece and get the best views of the city from the Observation Deck. This hour-long tour is free to the public; meet in the City Hall lobby.
Inside the Guaranty Building - Friday, 11/27 from 2 - 4PM
Preservation Buffalo Niagara with the generous help of Hodgson Russ is sponsoring this very special event. Tour the 1st, 2nd, and 13th floors of this famed building designed by renowned architect Louis Sullivan. The event includes remarks from architectural historian Martin Wachadlo. Refreshments will be served. Nearby St. Paul's will also be open for brief tours. The Guaranty Building is at the corner of Pearl and Church streets. $20 per person; $10 for PBN members. Legendary Lincoln Parkway - Saturday, 11/28 and Sunday, 11/29 at 10AM
One of the most beautiful avenues in Olmsted's park system, Lincoln Parkway was a magnet for lavish homes built by many prominent Buffalonians. John Larkin, founder of the Larkin Soap Company, bought an entire square block as an estate called "Larkland" for himself and his children. Join us as we explore this storied neighborhood. Meet at the Lincoln Statue by the Rose Garden in Delaware Park; $10 or $5 for students.
