I think it's really great that Japanese cuisine has become quite popular in the Buffalo area.. about ten to fifteen years later than the rest of the country, but at least it is "trendy" here now.
I'm hoping Indian food is next. We already have a few really good places in and around the area, but to have it in such a central location like Elmwood would really bring in the customers and introduce it to a lot of people who have never tried it.
You're familiar with India Gate on Elmwood, yea?
Thank you for the correction...I meant to say "central location like Elmwood AND Cleveland or even Breckenridge"...where you tend to get more foot traffic. I'm sure India Gate is nice... I'll be sure to try it, but I tend to stay away from the Elmwood and Forest intersections because of it being on the fringe of the village and partially due to the heavy auto traffic you get from Buff State.
Well, if you haven't been to India Gate because it's too far and too many cars, then you probably haven't been to the Indian restaurant on Delaware in Kenmore (name escapes me; a few blocks south of Hayes fish, east side of the street), but I like it better than India Gate. Worth the trip.
Those are terrible reasons for staying away from the Elmwood Forest area. So what if it's on the fringe?? India Gate is a fantastic restaurant, and consistently packed at night. It may be the most successful restaurant on Elmwood based on table occupancy.
Japanese and Indian Food have been staples of Elmwood for more than 10 years. Buffalo is lagging behind big cities in some other cuisines though. Thai and Spanish (Tapas) cuisine are just starting to catch on, but as far as I know, there are no good Moroccan, Ethopian, Indonesian, or Korean restaurants in Buffalo...
Curious about what's on the buffet. Is it just Chinese or Japanese? Any sushi on the buffet line?
Our family loves Wah Sing on West Ferry, but that area has become so scummy that we hesitate to even get take-out. TSB looks promising, so we shall give them a try or two .
Buffets are horrible. Usually low quality food, so I hope there is no sushi in the buffet.
With that said, interesting looking place. Nice website. I will check it out, not for the lunch buffet though
Yes, there's a large city-owned public parking garage across the street near BoA and WCH.
Already been there, was pretty decent. I'm sure it'll only get better as they settle in.
India Gate is worth the effort to park. As is Star of India in Kenmore, as is Tandoori's and Kabab and Curry out on Transit. Two two are probably the best, though of all the indian i've had, India Gate holds supreme as having the finest naan.
