Five to be Inducted into National Transportation Women’s Hall of Fame

The newly renovated Buffalo Transportation/Pierce Arrow Museum at Michigan and Seneca, in Downtown Buffalo, is pleased to induct its first honorees into The National Transportation Women's Hall of Fame.  The Museum is hosting an event on Friday, October 23rd to induct the following five women, who have contributed to transportation: 

·                Alice Ramsey - Posthumous award. First woman to drive an automobile (a Maxwell) from NY to San Francisco 1909.

·                Emily Anderson - Seattle, WA. Emily retraced Alice Ramsey's trip in 2009 in a 1909 Maxwell.

·                Lauren Fix - Clarence, NY. National TV personality car care expert. Professional race car driver.

·                Marguerite Hambleton, Ph.D. - Williamsville, Past member of the AAA National Board of Directors, past President/CEO of AAA Western & Central New York, current President of AAA New York State.

·                Donna Luh - Depew, NY. NYS Thruway Authority board member.  Business consultant. Former NFTA airport project coordinator.

·                Mary Martino - Buffalo, NY. Current AAA Board member, past trustee of AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, Oishei Foundation, & Peace Bridge Authority, former acting chairman NFTA.

Cocktails will be served at 6PM with food stations at 7PM.  At 8PM a presentation will feature Emily Anderson's 2009 reenactment of Alice Ramsey's 1909 drive across the country.  Alice was the first woman to drive from New York to San Francisco.  Emily will be at the Museum for interviews on Friday afternoon.

Items to be offered at a live auction include:

·                14' X 48' Billboard on the NYS 190 for one month.  Winner to submit camera ready artwork.  Installation donated by Adam Cravey.

·                Helicopter ride over Buffalo & Niagara Falls.  20 Minutes for two people with Mark Croce as Pilot.   Weather permitting.

·                A Pierce-Arrow for display at your Home/Event, Etc.  Five hours.  Weather permitting.  Transport provided by Ashland Service within a 20 Mile Radius of Downtown Buffalo.  Valid thru October 2010  ~ Value: $1,000

·                BUFFALO SABRES TICKETS - 2nd Row -Sabres Shoot Twice!  Tickets will be sold in individual pairs for separate dates.

Individual admission is a donation of $125.  Tables of eight or ten are also available.  Proceeds will benefit the National Women's Transportation Hall of Fame, building of the Frank Lloyd Wright Filling Station & Museum expansion.

WHAT? No award for the first woman to get into a car wreck? This certainly should be a category!

We need an award for the first woman who agreed to go to the backseat. Also one for the woman who created motorhead.
