In advance of the 6PM public hearing on October 20th, the Canal Side generic environmental impact statement (GEIS) is available for viewing at the Buffalo and Erie County Library Downtown Branch, Empire State Development Corporation Offices, or at www.eriecanalharbor.com
The hearing
will be held at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, 1285 Elmwood Avenue, and is
accessible to disabled persons
Empire State
Development Corporation (ESDC), as Lead Agency on behalf of its subsidiary corporation,
the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation (ECHDC), will be holding a public
hearing to receive comments on the draft generic environmental impact statement
(GEIS) prepared for the Canal Side Project.
The draft
GEIS assesses the economic, social and environmental impacts anticipated to
result from the Canal Side Project, a mixed-use waterfront development
initiative located within the City of Buffalo's Inner Harbor area.
Those unable
to attend the public hearing may submit written comments to Empire State Development
Corporation, 95 Perry Street, Buffalo, NY 14203, by November 2, 2009. All substantive comments received will
be addressed and responded to in the final GEIS for the Project, to be
published later this year.

I wonder if they will be closing the light rail and for how many days...since the canal is going to travel underneath it past Main to Washington.
The canal is not passing under Main Street. They are two separate pools of water.
