Local Restaurant Week: Prime 490

Local Restaurant Week: Prime 490
Prime 490 has a great selection of specials for Local Restaurant Week.  This place is one of my favorite places to get a nice steak. The quality of food here is always consistent. Chef Leonard Mordino and Sous Chef Mike Strom never fail to impress by putting out simple dishes with complex flavors.

I had the Grilled Pork Tenderloin served with Basmati rice and sauteed greens, finished with a candied green apple cider glaze. The presentation was beautiful.  The pork was perfectly cooked (as always) and I just love that the rice soaks up the flavors of the pork and the glaze.

My companion had the New York Strip with mashed potatoes and asparagus. It was a beautifully cooked steak that left my companion speechless.  Prime 490 has become his benchmark steak joint. Now when we have steak at other places, it's always "This is good, but just average compared to Prime."

Prime 490 also makes great pasta dishes.  I love the fettuccini dishes here.  The pasta is always fresh, and the sauce is always made from scratch for every plate.  I do recommend the Fettuccini Ala Leonard (pictured).  Something about this dish speaks to me.  With every bite, I ask myself "How does something so simple in appearance pack such a powerful flavor?"

I'm not gonna lie, I got up at 9AM this morning to heat up the leftovers because lunch would be too long a wait.

My girlfriend and I went to Prime 490 Monday to enjoy the Restaurant Week specials after hearing great things about the place. The food was excellent (she got a sirloin, I got the risotto), however, the service could be characterized as awful. We waited 15 minutes to be asked for a drink order, another 10 before we had to ask for menus, and went most of the night without refills on drinks. They had one server who was hustling all over, but they clearly understaffed for the night, as what I assume was the owner and/or manager getting up from their bar seats to lend a hand once in awhile. It was not packed, but ill-staffed for a promotional night. Again, the food was superb, as were the leftovers, but the wait and staffing left something to be desired.

Looks good - but I have a "small" criticism:

YOU NEED TO POST THE ADDRESS/LOCATION/CONTACT INFORMATION FOR THESE PLACES!!!

Nowhere in the article is there any mention of address, phone number, hours of operation - you know, the MAIN stuff people would need to actually GO THERE!!!

Just make a standard format for EVERY piece with the info either at the top or end.

End or rant...

Thank you.
