WBFO News Director Mark Scott was eager to take the opposite view concerning our reader submission from Jared Pristach, in which he suggests that a Bills stadium be built in Buffalo. This was a post that brought over 2,000 hits and brought about a lively discussion. I can't tell you how happy it makes me when readers throw ideas like this out there for public reaction; I wish more of you would do it. It's brave, and I felt Jared had some good points. Still, Mark says leave the stadium where it is.
Mark Lewandowski has been voted in as the new president of the Central Terminal Restoration Corporation. Determined to keep the impetus going, Lewandowski and his board are looking at new and innovative ways to market the restoration efforts to potential developers. We talked about the upgrade to rail and roadways leading to the terminal.
Segue into bicyclist issues. Are cyclists taking their lives into their hands? Newell says the Complete Streets Initiative should be better enacted, especially on Main Street, where students would benefit highly from bicycle lanes.
Next, we talked about the possible scenario that would place Byron Brown in the Lieutenant Governor's seat under Andrew Cuomo. My contention was that if this played out, Brown would be a very good friend to Buffalo from that spot, but then we speculate on who would become mayor. According to Mark's research it looks like the common council president, not the deputy mayor, would take over. We'll talk more about that when and if...
John Simpson's address to the community. We had a discussion about the outgrowth of UB. Simpson's most prevalent message was that we needed to make some noise about our need for UB2020 and the Flexibility and Economic Growth Act. Dear Chancellor Zimpher and Albany, can you hear us?
Finally, tonight is the last night of Local Restaurant Week until next March. Chao Li kept us up to date all last week. How about you? Did anyone take advantage of the reduced cost dining? What was your experience?

on the stadium. didn't think about it before but think of the environmental impact. a buff news write in yesterday complained about what a mess the ralph parking lots were after last weeks game. the buffalo river is dirty enough already. imagine how much trash would end up in it if the river was on three sides of the stadium

naw dude. all my concerns were already voiced in the reader submissions original article. this was an afterthought.
I'm not sure about the engineering feasibility of this, but: what about capping the landfill in Tonawanda and building the next stadium there when it's necessary? Reasons for:
(1) Plenty of space for the stadium and for parking (which is an important revenue stream
(2) quick acess to the 290 and 190
(3) closer to Canadian fans
(4) closer to the higher population density areas of Erie County, Niagara County and Southern Ontario
(5) I think the Amtrak line that runs from Toronto is just to the east (Maple Leaf route)?
