Labatt's Golden Can Promotion

Labatt’s Golden Can Promotion
I always liked Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.  I always hoped to find a golden ticket to some candy factory and a bunch of kids and I could party and eat candy and have fun.  Then I got older and my "tastes" changed.  And that's why I'm glad Labatt is doing a similar promotion.  Instead of golden tickets, they've created 50 golden cans of delicious, life-giving beer in conjunction with the Bills 50th Anniversary (hear about that yet?)

To have a chance at winning the contest, grab a specially marked 12-pack of Labatt Blue.  If you find a golden can, you get 50 Buffalo Bills prizes.  The cans in the specialty pack commemorate three famous Buffalo Bills moments.

Just a heads up: one can has already been found.  Dennis Scovazzo of Wheatfield is the lucky winner of the first can, and at today's 1:15 press conference at the Ralph, he'll receive his loot.  He'll get to enjoy Bills jerseys, tickets, autographed footballs, and more.

I think I'd rather find a golden can.

So, with a little PhotoShopping, BRO promotes underage drinking!

The man in the picture above is clearly of age.

Oh lighten up, you fear-mongering puss. The promotion is a take on the movie anyway, regardless of the silly and harmless photoshop job. Why don't you whine to Labatts USA about abusing a children's story as well?

God, so many people with giant sticks up their rears. Its just an image on a website, people. DAH! BUFFALO RISING ARE A BUNCH OF ALCOHOLICS AND FEED BEERS TO THEIR KIDS AND FORCE THEIR DOGS AND CATS AND GERIATRIC GREAT GRANDPARENTS TO CONSUME BARRELS OF WHISKEY BECAUSE THEY'RE ALL COMMUNISTS AND FREEDOM HATERS! Lame.

Charlie had every right to throw back a brewski! If i had to support 4 invalid (lazy) grandparents and watch my mom toil away in a dingy laundry, chocolate wouldn't have done the trick...

I loved the picture and thought it was funny as h#$%. Hey DMZ who is the dude that won? What school did you go to? Talk about hitting the jackpot if you are a Bills fan and if you are not you have some ebay sales to look forward to.

Thank YOU tommystanford...couldn't agree more. The picture made the post...and it is a true shame that both Labatts and some readers on this site can't just take it for what it is. The promotion is a direct rip-off of Willy Wonka, so the connection is obvious and made me laugh. Oh well....

Although the book/movie never made claim to exactly where the story took place, I always assumed that it was a British tale. In England, people under that age of 16 can drink alcohol with parental consent. In Charlie's case, that would be his grandfather because I believe he didn't have parents around(?). And we all know Charlie's grampa would be down to party with Charlie by his side.

So by this logic, there is nothing wrong with the old picture and I plead with BR to put it back up!!!!
