The Taste of Buffalo: More than Chicken Wings!

The Taste of Buffalo: More than Chicken Wings!

There's more to Buffalo than beer and wings?  Come check out our amazing food scene at Taste of Buffalo this weekend.  This two-day festival is the second largest in the country.  This year we have 14 new restaurants, and restaurants like Dinosaur Barbeque are coming to the festival for a market test!  I spoke to Jim Fink, who took time out of organizing this amazing gathering to tell me about this year's Taste of Buffalo.

"This year we have 60 restaurants--10 more than last year, live music, and cooking demonstrations on our food stage."  Fink and the rest of the staff are expecting 450,000 visitors this weekend.  "We have an awesome staff that just take their role and run with it."

"The Taste of Buffalo is the only food festival in the country that require a healthy choice dish from each participating restaurant."  There are also many vegetarian and vegan options on top of that.

This year, Buffalo Rising is sponsoring Trattoria Aroma for a cooking demonstration.  Chef Lisa Scibilia-Higgins and Sous Chef Mike Garcia will be making a salad with fresh mozzarella and a pasta dish with fresh pasta.  Make sure to check us out on Sunday!

Word of advice from Jim Fink? "Come hungry!"

Yeah, 14,000 is way off. Wikipedia quotes 450k annually.

Chao, you are so right that Taste is about more than wings -- and even about more than food. Buffalo Tours will be again be offering free tours of City Hall to all "Tasters" -- including of the observation deck, which is perhaps one of the coolest ways to take in all of Taste (and the Greater Buffalo area) at-a-glance.

So everyone going to "Taste" should leave a little room in their schedules -- and tummies -- to allow for a visit to City Hall and a climb up the stairs from the 25th floor to the observation deck. It's well worth it!
