Last evening as I was on my way to the Stiletto Run I noticed a little lady with a Styrofoam container bending down and pulling weeds. I walked up to her, smiled and said "Hello". She smiled back and said, "Hi". I then told her that I admired her work. She then grabbed her container and booked across Niagara Street and scurried into an apartment building. I continued to stand there, as the cars zipped past. So much for finding out who she was. But that was OK... it actually made the mysterious green thumb just that much more mysterious. So here's to our mysterious Niagara Street gardener - "Your work does not go unnoticed and we are lucky to have you!"
Mysterious Green Thumb On Niagara Street Shall Remain Mysterious

Leave a commentgreat work for the mysterious green thumb, if only more people were like her!
Newell, you really have to work on being less intimidating;-)
Guerilla beautification - what a cool idea, bunch of folks convene at one place at one time and tranform a little piece of Buffalo. If anyone is interested in doing something like this let me know....
So bizarre, I road my bike by this exact spot Wednesday and wonder the exact same thing(I knew the city wasn't doing it). I clicked on this story hoping Newell solved my curiosity, but NOoooo. I hope you stay on the case. May I suggest putting a giant trap and baiting it with some weeds.
I'll bet you anything that this is the work of Ana Church. She has been the lone gardener on Niagara Street. The community garden at Niagara and Jersey was all her work. If I'm right, we all owe a HUGE THANK YOU to her. If it's someone else, THANK YOU! You bring beauty to all of us!
It needs mulch.
Maybe the city could at least put some mulch down.
I bet you could get some donated or - better yet - donate it yourself and put some mulch down. ; - )
I pay taxes. That's my donation. I think the city can take care of the mulch ;-)
"I pay taxes. That's my donation". Come on with how cheap the city taxes are you are getting quite a bargain.
I wonder how long before she gets nailed for breaking some sort of law about meddling with public property, not having formal approval or permit, or something even though its a vast improvement.
maybe she doesn't want mulch. she has done fine on her own. I have watch her for a long time and she keeps just doing her thing. She will remain a hidden jem in our community

probably for the best - somebody might demand a permit or license.
