Music Is Art Brings New Orleans Talent To Buffalo

Music Is Art Brings New Orleans Talent To Buffalo
New Orleans is the Mecca of music.  Louis Armstrong, the Marsalis family, Jelly Roll Morton and countless others found themselves in the center of one of (if not THE) greatest music cities in the world, and spawned careers that still influence musicians today.  Music Is Art, being the wise group of dedicated musicians they are, have taken this knowledge and used it to improve the Buffalo music scene.

"The Big Easy In Buffalo" is one of Music Is Arts' connects the artists of New Orleans and Louisiana with the young artists of Buffalo to foster talent and continue to grow interest in music.  This year, Music is Art continues the tradition with New Orleans funk/jazz/jam band Papa Grows Funk.  On June 11th after Robert Randolph and the Family Band at the Square, be sure to head to the Lafayette Tap room to catch a show for only $7 and benefit the Music is Art program.

Papa Grows Funk is touring the Northeast, and wanted to stop in Buffalo to work with MiA because of how much they enjoyed their experience with students last time.  Due to their schedule, they will not be able to visit a school, but will be holding a Q and A prior to the show, and will be hanging with battle of the bands winner Infinity Blues Project, a group of high school aged kids who really know how to play.

When MiA brings a band to Buffalo, they band usually meets with students and gives them some hands on education.  When Papa Grows Funk was in town last time, they gave Buffalo Academy For Visual And Performing Arts students a demonstration, answered questions, and jammed with them, and despite time constraints this year, wanted to make it to Buffalo to further efforts and benefit the Music is Art program as much as possible.

Even if you're not a musician yourself, head to the Lafayette Tap Room on June 11th to support our local talent.  You'll already be saving tons of money on concerts this summer!

Saw these guys at the Mardi Gras Jam at the Town Ballroom. They're really good jam-funk band. Their guitar player is incredible. Robert Randolph in the Square, then Papa Grows Funk at the Tap Room is going to make for a very good night!
