Been paying attention to sports at all lately? The United States defeated top-ranked Spain last week, and narrowly lost to Brazil on Sunday. American soccer is on the rise!
Keep that in mind as Buffalo City Football Club continues to defeat teams in the NPSL. On June 28th they faced National Champions Pennsylvania Stoners with fantastic results. By winning the game 4-1, their goal differential is up to an impressive +11, and they're only one point behind the Erie Admirals.
In the game, the Buffalo City FC jumped on their adversaries early and often, scoring in the 8th minute, 14th minute, and 25th minute, putting the Stoners in a 3-0 hole before half time. In between those goals were more opportunities created out of strong play. The second half looked like more of the same for Buffalo City. A one on one scoring chance was stymied by Stoners goalkeep Sam Bishop. Buffalo City kept up their strong play and put home one more goal at the 70th minute, giving our boys a 4-0 lead. It would stay that way until the 92nd minute when the Stoners broke the goose-egg and put home their lone goal.
Player-coach Mike Share was pleased with the effort put forth by his team. "I think we can show what a good team we can be in front of the goal. Every player played well, and more importantly, we looked like a team again," he said.
