Tattoos are intensely personal, and the subjects of Kratt's portraits look straight at the viewers, allowing for a depth of personality that the tattoos alone could never convey. Kratt, of course, has all the backstories of his subjects, many of which drive home the drama of the images, but even without Kratt's privileged background knowledge, the dead-on stares of the twice-created works of art evoke a certain unease and excitement all at the same time.

KC is a great photographer and I really enjoyed this show. My boyfriend is one of the subjects in this particular show. Having a few tattoos myself, I can appreciate the photos and the stories behind them :)
