Since
2007, the Queen City Gallery has been exposing the
brilliant architecture that Buffalo has to offer through the photography of gallery owner Michael Mulley.
Starting on June 12th and continuing to July 17th, the gallery will be opening a special exhibit featuring photos from Paul Zone, who established himself as a photographer on the cutting edge in New York City in the 1970s. The exhibit will feature around 30 large-scale photographs among others from Zone's collection of the Underground music scene back in the day. Some of those included in the exhibition are true legends like The Ramones, New York Dolls, Iggy Pop, Lou Reed and Patti Smith.
Zone found his passion for taking pictures at the age of 11 when his brothers had started taking him to concerts. Zone would never forget to take his box Brownie camera. When his brothers formed a band and insisted that he was too young to join, he concentrated on taking pictures of his nights out at the concerts, clubs and parties around town. He became friends with members of Blondie and The Ramones before the bands even began to form. As such, he took the first photo session of Blondie as a five-piece band. He soon began working for Circus Magazine and Rock Scene & Andy Warhol's Interview.
According to Mulley, Zone is unfortunately in California this time of year and will not be making an appearance as expected and hoped during the times of the exhibition, however, his photographs will be available for purchase at the Queen City Gallery and the event, just as regular hours of the gallery, are free and open to the public.

I love Buffalo!
